Hi I'm Hyrum

I'm from Washington. I love basketball, and tennis. I'm currently serving a 2 year long mission in Las Vegas! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a person who loves to smile and make others happy. My family plays a large role in my life. I have 11 siblings, of which I am the 8th born. They are all the greatest examples to me. Recently I was able to receive my mission call from the prophet of our church to serve in the Nevada, Las Vegas West Mission. I am excited and striving each day to prepare so I can be ready to teach others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to share with them the joy that I experience through living the Gospel. Most people look at giving up 2 years of their life as a sacrifice, but for me, it is an opportunity to share what I love most. I love being able to look people in the eye and to tell them that I know where I came from, why I am here and my purpose on earth, and where I am going after this life. I love to share that prophets and apostles are once again on the earth in the same way that the church was set up when Jesus Christ was on the Earth. I know that living the gospel makes people happy. No other thing has blessed my life so much.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I think that there are so many good churches out there, and so many good people in those churches, but The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the fullness of doctrine!! We have so much to offer, because of the Prophets and Apostles, that have received revelation from God, have told us things that the world needs to hear in the broken world we live in! I think of the sacrifices made by those pioneers who traveled from England, Sweden, and other European countries, all the way to Salt Lake City Utah, JUST because they were told to by a Prophet, and they knew that, if a prophet had commanded them to, then it was just as good as if God had told them. To listen to those inspiring stories helps me to believe. I guess I could sum it up and say that I am a Mormon because I believe that the Church has the fullness of doctrine, and has the proper authority given to man by God.

How I live my faith

I am preparing to serve a full time mission for two years, so that I can help families be together forever. I am also a ward missionary in my ward! I am able to go out with the missionaries and go knock on doors and help them find people to teach about Christ and our church. I do this to share the happiness I have felt from living the principles of the restored Church! I cannot describe how much I have felt the Gospel bless my life! Through living Gospel Standards, given to the world by Prophets and Apostles, I have been able to live a good life and have been kept safe from harmful things. The gospel of Jesus Christ has that to offer to anyone who humbly seeking change in their lives. I have seen it time and time again change people's lives!

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

The Savior's example and His teachings in His mortal ministry outline the path that we are to follow. He taught that we need to develop faith in and rely on Him, and repent of all the mistakes we have made, be baptized by immersion as he was, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost to guide us and to help us choose the right, and then continue believe in Jesus Christ and continue to repent of the mistakes we make. We continually need to be improving ourselves to become like He is. In Matthew 7:24-25, Jesus Christ said, "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock." He has shown us the path to receive happiness and peace in this life, and that is by following his example and teachings. Show more Show less
