Hi I'm Andrew Thorn

I am an author and a positive psychologist. My work is focused on growing whole in the second half of life. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband of 25 years and a father of seven children. My greatest joy is found within the walls of my own home. I enjoy quiet time in the beautiful world our Heavenly Father created for us. Whether in the mountains, the oceans, lakes and streams, or plains, I always feel His spirit most strongly when I am enjoying His many creations. My work as a positive psychologist is focused on the second half of life. I help people manage the mid-life transition and focus on the things that matter most. I help them pause from the busyness and business of life so that they can reflect on what is truly meaningful to them. Then I help them live a life that is aligned with their individual values. I am a runner, an ironman triathlete and an avid backpacker. I love to read and study everything that is virtuous, lovely, or good report and praise worthy. I love to learn and grow and develop.

Why I am a Mormon

I love to study the many different approaches to developing and sustaining spiritual intelligence. I find joy in the sacred writings of many different cultures, countries and time periods. Each speaks of the beauty of our Heavenly Father's plan. These writings continue to confirm my belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I find it to be the most complete of all systems and I marvel at the obvious connections to our Heavenly Father's plan. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ because I value the restored priesthood power that makes it possible for me to be sealed for all eternity to my beautiful wife and children. I love knowing that where to turn when I need to better understand the purpose of my life and the depth of our Heavenly Father's Plan. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints because I am thankful for a Prophet who speaks to God and teaches what He wants us to hear today. What a blessing it is to live by the council of a Prophet.

How I live my faith

I constantly test the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my own life. As a scientist, I believe that we must test each principle through active obedience.
