Hi I'm Emma

I'm a BYU student, a future missionary for the state of Washington, and a daughter and sister in a loving family; I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter of five children. I am a straight-A student. I value my education very much, and I really enjoy learning. I love singing! Whether at home in the shower, at school in the hallways, or at church during sacrament meeting, I love to sing. I have been in two school musicals, and I have directed a musical as well. I enjoy playing the piano, and I have been playing for about nine years. I also play the organ for my ward, which is intimidating at times, but also so much fun. Also, love to try out new recipes, so I can become a better cook. I mostly love cooking for my wonderful and supportive family, who is willing to try everything. My family and I are very close and we love to talk and laugh with each other. My mom has battled breast cancer, and our family has learned to trust in the service of others. From this difficult trial in our lives, we have become so much closer as a family as well as closer to our Heavenly Father. I am a blessed young woman who has so many gifts and blessings to be grateful for.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this church brings me so much joy! I can't imagine a life without the knowledge of the restored gospel. I know that Christ truly atoned for our sins, and I feel the cleansing power of the Atonement every time I make a mistake or feel alone. I know the Plan of Salvation is God's plan, and through it we will live with Him and our families again. I have a testimony that Joseph Smith truly saw Christ and God the Father in the grove, and that through him the priesthood keys were restored to the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the one true living prophet of the earth, and only he holds all of the keys of the church. I fully sustain him and all of the general authorities because they speak the words of the Lord. I believe the Book of Mormon to be the truest book on the earth, and it testifies of Christ and His gospel. The words of the scriptures bring me so much peace each time I read them. I know that God listens to and answers my prayers because I have received many powerful witnesses of the Spirit on many occasions. I know that the temple is the house of the Lord, and it is the closest place to heaven on earth. I have a firm testimony of all of these things, and I take every opportunity to spread the joy and truth of the gospel!

How I live my faith

I've served in many callings in my ward, including Laurel's president, ward organist, ward choir pianist, and a primary teacher. I have also received my call to serve a full-time mission in Federal Way, Washington, speaking Spanish. Although these callings have all strengthened my testimony and faith, the greatest way that I live my faith is by doing the small and simple things. By simply being kind to others, reading the scriptures, saying consistent prayers, or spending time with my family, I feel my testimony grow. It is by the simple, daily acts of faith that I feel my faith strengthen.
