Hi I'm Gloria

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. My husband and I had 6 children. He was in the Air Force the first four years of our marriage and we lived in Mississippi, California, and Germany. We were able to travel and see most of Europe. He spent the next 4 years going to college, and four years later went back to get his doctorate degree. When our last child was in third grade, I decided to go back to school. I graduated with a degree in Family Relations and earned a Masters degree in Social Work. After I graduated, I spent several years working as a counselor with the elderly and then with troubled youth. I eventually started my own business, "Adventures In Living" and was an educator, counselor, and motivational speaker. I loved to travel with my husband and we were able to take trips to Israel and Egypt with his work. We served a church mission to Samoa when he retired. After he passed away, I took trips with one of my daughter's family to Canada, Hawaii, and Ireland. My hobbies include reading, writing, family history, oil painting, playing the piano, cross-stitching, and Sudoku. I have self-published two children's books, "The Obnoxious Saurus" and "Little Johnny, three books of poetry, Heaven's Heartprints Volume I and II, and Eternal Companion, and one song book, "Heartprints of Song." My greatest joy has been my family, my friends, and my Church.

Why I am a Mormon

My family was not active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) when I was growing up, and I feel very much like a convert to the church. I read and studied every religion I could find. I read all the literature I could find on the Mormons and also all the anti-Mormon literature I could find I was bewildered by the anti-Mormon literature. It had nothing to offer me. It was all dark and hateful. I attended church services with the LDS people and felt a spirit of love and kindness that really impressed me. I became active in the church and have stayed active all my life. It has brought me more joy and happiness that I ever could have imagined. The first time I read The Joseph Smith Story and The Book of Mormon, it was like a bright like turned on inside me. I knew they were true. I have read those many times in my life. Each time I read them, I receive the same witness. They are true!

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by praying and reading the scriptures daily and by trying harder each day to follow the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and do the things He did. I try to love and serve my family, my neighbors, and everyone I meet, knowing each one is a literal child of God. I have served in the church as a teacher to children, youth, and the women. I have held leadership positions in the children's organization (Primary), and the women's organization (Relief Society). I have also helped in the library and writing a newsletter, served on social service committees, and served a church mission.
