Hi I'm Barbara

I grew up in a small northern Utah town and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom. I love to sew, garden, refinish furniture, clean, organize, decorate, spend time outside and with my family. I grew up in a small town of 300 and am now living a suburb of Denver Colorado. This has taken some adjustment but I can appreciate both the country and the city. I have three beautiful children ages 15, 13 and eight. This is why I choose to be a stay at home mom. I feel they need me in their lives when they go to school and when they come home. I do have a Bachlor of Science in Home Ecomomic Education, however, I choose to work at home sewing for others. This gives me the opportunity to be at home but contribute to the family income as well. Another one of my passions is gardening. It gives me joy to plant. I am still learning a lot through trial and error, but am having some success which keeps me going. I like to see what I can grow along with spending time outside. Spending time with my family is probably my most rewarding interest right now. I am in the thick of things with three children and a husband coming and going. I enjoy the family time we have camping, hiking, visiting family, riding bikes, walks, parks, playing games, and watching an occasional movie together. I believe being a wife and mother brings me joy and happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS church. In fact my geneaology on both my Mother and Father sides date back to to the early history of the church. I am very blessed having many ancestors from an early part of this church. Because of their examples, they have left me with a great desire to continue in their footsteps. However, I had to develop a testimony of the gospel that is all my own. Growing up in the church helped but I had to put forth the effort in seeing for myself if it was really true. At an early age I felt that it was true. As I continued through my life to live by its teachings, my faith has been strengthened. I know that it is by living the gospel that I have a knowledge that I have an eternal Heavenly Father and He loved me enough to send His Son to atone for my sins. My faith provides me with joy and happiness that I cannot get anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I believe that serving in my church not only blesses others but my own life. I have served in a wide variety of areas from the little ones on up to the older ones. No matter where I serve, I learn to love each age group and I know we are all special in Heavenly Fathers eyes. The different areas of service have increased my abilities to serve. Right now I have my dream job. I get to work with the eight to nine year old girls, one of which is mine. We meet twice a month and participate in activities that help teach the girls new knowledge and skills. It is called "Activity Days". It is similar to Boy Scouts but it is for girls. Along with this calling, I help the women which belong to an organization called the Relief Society with their sewing skills. I love sharing my knowledge with others about sewing which I am passionate about. Along with these two callings, I am also given charge over three ladies in the church. This is called "Visiting Teaching". My responsibilites there are to make sure their needs are being taken care of. I do this by contacting them in some way whether by a visit, call, email, or sending a note in the mail. I love Visiting Teaching because I get to develop a close relationship with other women.
