Hi I'm Orson

Just a regular guy that feels blessed and loves his family.

About Me

I'm a husband and father of 5 children.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ is the most wonderful thing ever. I was born a Mormon, but like every one else, I had to decide for myself what I was going to believe, and whether I believed at all. That time came for me around the time I finished high school and I was thinking about serving a 2-year mission when I was 19. At that time, I started to read the scriptures more earnestly, especially the Book of Mormon. I came to know that it truly is the word of God, just like the Bible. I felt of God's love for me and I could feel I was having a change of heart. I knew I was feeling the redeeming love of Jesus Christ and spiritually being reborn. I knew that the gospel of Jesus Christ was not only true, but it was real. I served my 2-year mission in Ireland and it was the best 2 years of my life. To be able to devote your life in the service of God 24/7 is an awesome experience. I love the Book of Mormon. The best advice I could give anyone is to read it. It was preserved and designed to come to the world in our day. It is strong in its teachings of the Savior. The light of Christ bursts through it pages. Just like the Bible, it tells us of devoted followers that knew and lived the gospel of Jesus Christ. They were commanded to preserve their record so that it would come to us in our day. What makes the Book of Mormon unique is the message that comes with it--that God is doing a great work in our day, and that being part of it will help prepare us (similar to John the Baptist for Jesus' first coming) for a time when Christ will come again. I have no idea when that will happen of course, probably not in my lifetime, but it doesn't matter. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ makes me a better person and brings me a lot of joy and happiness. It not only blesses me in this life, it makes me more ready for the life to come. The gospel of Jesus Christ is pretty awesome. It truly is the great love of my life.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon gives you plenty of chances to serve others. Currently, I'm a Sunday School teacher and also our local congregation's (ward) choir director. It's challenging but fun. I have found the Savior's words to be true that if you lose your life in His service, you will find life; if you save your own life and don't serve others for His sake, then you will lose it.
