Hi I'm Cheri

I'm a runner, school volunteer, soccer mom, cub scout den leader, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 5 children who enjoys facing a new day by watching the sun rise as the neighborhood wakes up as I run by. Then it is home to scripture study, family prayer, lunches, gathering up backpacks, hugs and kisses as the kids walk out the door. I enjoy volunteering at the school helping children learn and grow. It is a delight to help children learn to read and write. In my spare time I enjoy being out in nature with my family. We enjoy hiking, biking, running, swimming, and many other activities outside. I come from a family of 7 children. I love having my brothers and sister to turn to when I need a friend to talk to. My mother recently died and I am very thankful for the love my family shows to me. They are some of my dearest friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many different reasons. I grew up in the church and I have a rich family heritage. I had several ancestor's join the church in England come to America with the pioneers in the 1800's. I have read their personal histories and learned why they have joined the church. I am very thankful for the examples they have been to me. I am also very thankful for their willingness to go through their difficult trials and sacrifices to become a member of the church. My family has been very blessed for all they have done for us. I never want to take for granite what my dear ancestor's did for me. I am thankful for the firm foundation my parents had given to me as we went to church and studied the scriptures together as a family. I grew up in Utah where most everyone is familiar with the church. When I moved away for college, I realized that other people had different values, views and religious backgrounds. I needed to know for myself if this church was true. I decided to read the Book of Mormon in one week. I read and read all week long. As I read I had a peaceful feeling come over me. What I was doing was right and that, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church. At the birth of each of my children, as I held their sweet little bodies in my arms and looked in their faces, I knew that there is a Father in Heaven who loves them and he trusts me to take care of his children here on this earth. I know there is a purpose in life. We are here on earth for a reason and that we may also return to him when our time on earth is over if we live our lives righteously. I am thankful for the knowledge that we can be an eternal family. I am thankful to have a prophet on this earth to lead and guide us each day. He knows our struggles and trials for our times and receives revelations for us and how to live a better life. I am very thankful to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day as I hold family and personal scripture study. I enjoy reading from the Book of Mormon each night before I go to bed. The examples of the prophets and leaders in the Book of Mormon show me the importance of courage, prayer, faith and repentance as I live my life each day. Most of the trials are not new to our society. There have many been problems with each society that has been on the face of the earth. It is important for us to learn from those who have gone before us and learn from their mistakes. My family is very important to me. We hold weekly meeting to discuss the scriptures, values, and do activities together. It is important to build strong family bonds. I serve as a teacher for 6 year old children. They are a delight to teach as we study the scriptures, sing songs and share stories about our dear sweet Savior, Jesus Christ. I know these dear children know they have a Father in Heaven who loves them very much. They are His children. I serve as a visiting teacher for three sisters in our ward. I enjoy serving and helping them in anyway that I can. I enjoy going to the temple and serving in the house of the Lord. It is a special experience to go to the temple with my husband and renew our covenants that we have made with our Heavenly Father. I am thankful for the temples and that we can go and do His work.
