Hi I'm Dave.

I'm a college sophomore. I like to play are the drums. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Dave. I grew up in Utah as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My favorite thing to do is talk to people and get to know them. I really enjoy rock climbing, singing, playing the guitar and drums and anything that will make me laugh, like the Simpsons. I'm going to college right now studying to become an occupational therapist. I originally wanted to become a doctor but soon realized that being in school that long was a terrible idea, so now I'm doing this which will let me work with people and help them using medicine, and it will save me some serious schooling time. Win, win.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that this is God's church. I couldn't rely forever on what my parents were telling me was true, so I decided to find out for myself whether or not everything about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon was true; I needed to know if it was really Jesus Christ's church. I read the Book of Mormon when I was a teenager when I was going through a rough spot with life in general and with my girlfriend at the time. I had been praying for help, for any kind of direction from God, but I went for several months feeling as though my prayers weren't even being heard. Finally, I finished the book and read the promise at the end of the book which states that the reader can know by the power of the Holy Ghost if the book is true or not. After reading the promise I remember just looking at the verses and thinking "Why not? What do I have to lose?" I knelt down and asked if the book I had just read was true or not and the feeling I got was my answer. It's difficult to explain exactly what that answer felt like, but it was kind of like a warm burning in my chest, almost like getting a big hug, and I got goosebumps everywhere. The Book of Mormon is Joseph Smith's "fruit" (Mathew 7:16) or evidence that he was truly called of God to be a latter day prophet, and because God answered my prayer I now know that the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are true.

How I live my faith

The church in my area is called a "single's ward." It's essentially a group of young single adults that meet together, just like the regular church, but it's easier to get a date. =) Right now I am on a committee that organizes one hour long Monday night activities that the members or their friends can participate in, to meet new people and make friends. We do activities like paint-balling, sledding, play at the park, rock climbing, etc. Pretty much whatever people like to do. We always have some food and share a quick spiritual message. If you haven't been, you should go. There's free food and cute singles which is a pretty good combo.
