Hi I'm Joyce

I grew up in South Central Pennsylvania. I'm a veteran of the US Air Force, am a Licensed Practical Nurse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a housewife, mother of a 20 year old son who is on a Mission for our Church, and the wife of my sweetheart of 24 years. I love horseback riding, reading, cooking, canning, antiques and ancient history.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by loving parents who taught me to pray, and have faith in Jesus Christ. When I joined the US Air Force, at age 18, I had pretty much become very confused by all the different ideas about religion being discussed at the time. I came to a point, at age 21, where I decided on my own, that Sunday should be different from all other days. I wanted something solid to hang onto. I was an emergency room hospital corpsman, and started to visit several churches to find out where I wanted to participate. One night at work, I participated in an effort to save the life of a young man who had been minding his own business, driving home from the movies. I remember seeing him lay there on the ER table, gasping for breath, with major trauma to his face and body. He died in front of me. I wondered where "he" was, for his body no longer contained "him." Why was he born, to only die so young? When I was taught by missionaries, a week later, I understood the answers to my questions. I read the Book of Mormon, and when I knelt on my knees to pray about it, I received a knowledge of it's truthfulness. There was no fear, doubt only a certain awareness of it's truth. I know I made the right decision to join the Church. I felt liberated to establish my own personal relationship with Heavenly Father. I know the Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. I know I am a better, centered person because of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I teach in our women's organization once a month on various subjects. I love to get people to share their insights and talk about concerns we might be having at that time. I enjoy visiting my sisters each month to get to know them, and carry an uplifting message about our Savior to them. It strengthens me to serve them. I try and read scriptures each day, with a determination to ponder what I've read. I often, in the past and presently, search for answers to problems or questions. Many are the times that after prayer, I open my scriptures, and they open immediately to a place where the Lord speaks directly to me. The Lord loves ALL the people who have ever been born on Earth, and He wants us to be happy as we go through life.
