Hi I'm Mitch Pogue

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life. I enjoy people. I am interested in society and how individuals, families and communities interact together. Married for 33 years with 4 adult married children and 6 grandchildren. Family life brings me great joy, happiness and personal growth. I am a student of management and leadership and seek to incorporate good principles into practice in building and empowering effective teams in my employment as a Manager. I love to garden and improve our home and property of almost 1 acre and assist our neighbors and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

In my early years we did not have any regular church involvement within my immediate family. My parents held certain values as to life and living based upon honesty and integrity but did not affiliate with churches or religions. We were happy and enjoyed many activities together such as camping, etc. We did not have spiritual discussions or talk about God or the existence of a God openly. It just wasn't part of our life. We were sent to bible school for a week in the summer as children to a local church. That was my experience with Religion until an Uncle (my mother's brother) sent Mormon Missionaries to our home to teach us about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was baptized into that Church while living in our home and discussed his experience with my Dad and explained why he was baptized. My Dad had some experience with a Mormon friend when he was a young adult and had some interest as to what the Mormon Religion was all about. We listened to the lessons the Missionaries shared together as a family. I was eleven years old at the time and was moved by the experience of Joseph Smith seeing God and His Son Jesus Christ when he was only 14 years old. I could relate to his youth and thought to myself that a 14 year old boy wouldn't lie about seeing God. I believed it more when I saw how adults of his day treated him with disrespect and actually hated him for telling that he saw God and later killed him for it. To me, anyone who lied about seeing God would not give up his or her life when challenged. I witnessed a miraculous change for my Father when he prayed to God for an answer and help to know the truth of what we were being taught as a family. We were baptized together more than 40 years ago now. I have studied, learned, lived and applied the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ personally as taught by the Church and have come to know for myself with certainty it is true and it works. I am happy being a follower of Jesus Christ. A Mormon.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my life in accordance with the example and teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. To me, He is the perfect example of the perfect life filled with love, patience, kindness, mercy and grace. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I have received many opportunities to serve and support fellow members through teaching classes, leadership roles, councils and social activities. I have been a volunteer leader within the Boy Scouts of America, Youth Leader, Seminary Instructor and Sports Coach. The interactions experienced in these various capacities have helped me become acquainted with a variety of people of different ages and cultures enabling me to gain an appreciation for all people as children of God equally important to our Heavenly Father. I can honestly say my faith in God our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ is the primary motivation in life for me. I am grateful for the understanding this brings in helping me to know who I am as a human being, where I came from before I was born on earth and what the future holds beyond this mortal existence. I am building happy and lasting family relationships and friendships during my life now with a full expectation of enjoying an ever expanding circle of family and friends into eternity and beyond. This knowledge and focus enables me to deal with the challenges of life in positive ways knowing sacrifices are worth the effort. I look to serve all people I meet and interact with on a daily basis sharing a smile and lending a hand when opportunities are there. Life is great.
