Hi I'm Nancy

I'm a mother and a grandmother. I teach music to elementary school children and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a musical family! My father had a beautiful voice and was the self-proclaimed "page turner" for my mother who was an accomplished violinist. Mom taught orchestra in elementary schools and then taught private lessons after school and on Saturdays so we could have our own private music lessons. There were 6 children in our family and we scheduled our practice times beginning at 6am so Mom could teach after school. In high school I had an amazing choral music teacher who instilled in me the desire to not only perform but also to teach music. I currently teach elementary general music as well as beginning string orchestra classes. Over the years I have taught hundreds of children how to enjoy and appreciate music through singing and by playing instruments including the violin, viola and cello. It's a challenging task but one that brings much joy and satisfaction! I met my husband in college and we have 4 married children and 12 grandchildren. I have always loved being a mother but I especially love being a grandma!!! I certainly can "count my many blessings"!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a loving family with parents who were devoted to making our home a haven. We had family prayers, family scripture study and Family Home Evenings where we learned from each other and had fun together. I don't remember an exact moment when I knew that this church was true but it has been a gradual knowledge that has increased as I have grown older. My testimony of the divinity of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel has been my strength throughout my life. The greatest blessing I have is the knowledge that I can be together with my family after I die. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and by making and keeping sacred covenants in the temple of the Lord I can be united with my parents, siblings and my own children and grandchildren for eternity. I know that by being obedient to the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ I have great happiness in this life but will have even more joy in the life to come!

How I live my faith

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the anchor in my life. As a wife and a mother I relied upon the Lord to be my constant companion as I made daily decisions that impacted the spirit in my home and the interactions with my family. By accepting opportunities to serve in the Church I have learned many skills and have been an example to my children of using my time and talents to help others and to serve the Lord. My children have assisted me with my church callings from preparing for large women's conferences to taking bread or cookies to a new neighbor. I strive every day to be a disciple of Jesus Christ by loving and serving others.
