Hi I'm Devin

I am an electrical engineer and a father of four kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports, especially college football. I obsessively cheer for the BYU Cougars. I like tech gadgets and tinkering with stuff, including things like home theaters and building computers. I'm learning how to be a handyman at home and enjoy doing projects where I can teach myself something new. I love spending time with my family, including road trips, vacations, camping, or just taking the kids out for an ice cream on a hot summer night.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but after high school I quickly realized that this isn't the kind of church that you can be a part of if you are not completely committed to it. I had to find out for myself if there was any truth to the things my parents had taught me when I grew up. I read The Book of Mormon on my own for the first time when I was 18. The closing chapter of The Book of Mormon gives a promise that if you want to know if it is true, you can pray about it and receive an answer. After reading the book, I knelt down to pray, but before I could even say the prayer I had an overwhelming feeling that The Book of Mormon is the word of God and that the church is true. I can never deny that confirmation that I have received through reading The Book of Mormon that this church is true, even if I get overwhelmed at times at the things that we are expected to do as members of the church.

How I live my faith

I work with the young men, ages 12-18, in the church. This includes teaching lessons on Sundays, organizing Boy Scout activities on Wednesdays, going on monthly Boy Scout camp outs and yearly scout camp and high adventure trips, and assisting with other activities with the youth programs, like service projects, dances, and other activities.
