Hi I'm Julie

I live in Western Illinois. I am a Wife, Mother, and I teach High School Family Consumer Science. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Julie and I was raised in the Church of convert parents. My Mom, Dad, and 2 older brothers joined the Church after my Mom invited the missionaries back so they could all hear the message of the restored gospel. This was in the mid-1960s. Several years later they had 2 more children, my brother and me! I am sealed for time and all eternity my husband of 18 years. We have 4 children. Three on earth and 1 in Heaven. They are everything to me! Because I feel the family is so imporatnt, I added Family and Consumer Sciences to my teaching certificate (history) and now teach those subjects to High School students.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the church because I want to live with my Heavenly Father again and be there with my family. It is through His Son, Jesus Christ, we can return to his presence. Without the atonement we would not be able to repent of our transgressions and become like Him. Also, without the saving ordinances of Baptism and being sealed in Temples we would not be able to return to His presence.

How I live my faith

I am a High School Family Consumer Science teacher. At church, I work with the children 18months-11 years old. I am children's biggest fans at football games, track meets, dance recitals, and t-ball!

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Julie
I have been asked many times 'Why don't women in your church have priesthood?' I answer that the Priesthood is the authority of man to act for God on the earth and that is through them the Priesthood is held. However, I, we as women have a place and responsibility within the Church. We have the womens' organization, the Relief Society who help women of all ages. We lead the 12-18 year-old girls in Young Women. And the children 18 months to 11 year-olds are taught by women. I have never felt that my contrubutions to the Church were second place to the men. My husband and I walk and are in this 'together'. Show more Show less
