Hi I'm Kathy

I am a wife, mom, grandma, and a Latter-day Saints (mormon).

About Me

I moved to Arizona from Ohio when I was four. I went to school in Arizona and married my high school sweet heart 40 years ago. I am a mom of 6 and a grandma of 18 for now. I love reading, gardening, running, family history and fishing with my grandchildren. My greatest dream is to go on a mission with my husband for our church.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with my husband and seven year old daughter when I was 25 years old.  At that time my marriage was in trouble and we were planning to divorce. I didn't know where to turn or what to do. I felt frightened and alone. One day in my tears I said a silent prayer that if there is a god could he help me. I heard a voice in my mind say " there is a book in you closet." I knew what book it was it was a Book of Mormon that my husband was given in Junior High. I had tried many time to throw it away but he said he wanted to keep it. I went and found it in the closet and began to read it. I didn't understand all that I was reading but I do know what I felt. I felt a wonderful feeling of peace and comfort come over me, I knew the words I was reading were true and felt that God some how knew me and wanted to help me. All my fears left me and I desired to know where the book came from and what it really meant. I knew it was from the mormon's so I called the only place I knew the mormon's went, the Arizona Mormon Temple. They were so nice to me and said they would love to send out missionaries to teach me more. The missionaries came to our home and taught us the Gospel of Jesus Christ and about his plan for his children. We were so thrilled my husband listened to the discussions with me and we both were baptized a member of the church. One year later we were sealed in the Temple with our daughter and new born son for time and all eternity and have lived the plan of happiness he has for us everyday since. I am so grateful to have a loving Heavenly Father who sent his Son to teach us how to live and what to do to be happy in a world of so many confusing voices. And that he know each of us personally and is always there to help us when we are in trouble. I love the Book of Mormon and the power it has to find those who are lost and rescue them with it's teachings to come unto Christ.

How I live my faith

I try to show my gratitude to my Saviour for all that he has done for me and my family by sharing the gospel with anyone that will listen so they might have the peace I feel from him. I have tried to teach my children what Christ would have them do with their lives. My son's were in Scouting and I was there leader along with their father. I went to girls camp with my daughters, I love working with the youth of the church and help them live the way the Lord would like them to live and to resist satans tricks so their lives will not be filled with sorrow because of sin. I teach a Sunday School Class on the New Testament, I learn so much and my faith grows as I study the scriptures. My favorite place to go to strengthen my faith and feel my Saviors love it the Arizona Temple. My home has pictures of the Saviour"s life and of our prophet Thomas S. Monson. These remind me daily who I should try to be like. The modern day prophet's of our church have given me teachings that build my faith in Christ and help me know what to do to avoid the sins of today. They are difficult to detect because the world is so different than it was in days of Moses they didn't have the internet , cell phones ect.. The Lord speaks to him and he warns us of the dangers ahead just like he did Noah when the flood was coming. My favorite things to do each morning is to kneel next to my husband in prayer, it has blessed our marriage and given us direction each day.
