Hi I'm Terri

I manage a small farm and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love spending time with my husband, my six children, two step children and several grandchildren. I love spinning wool and other fiber, raising cows and sheep and chickens, reading history, doing genealogy, gardening and teaching other people anything I know. I love studying my own religious beliefs and history and those of others.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon (a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) because I was always interested in finding truth...if a belief system isn't truth-based, why follow it? So I studied many religious traditions and the arguments for atheism and agnosticism as well. I found the most cohesive and complete explanation for the world and my own place in it in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I've never been disappointed with the answers I found there. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not only logical, but it also feels right to me; it provides a perspective that encompasses much more of the universe, seen and unseen, than any other I've ever experienced. It's also the most inclusive and loving system of thought and action I'm aware of - all people are accounted for in the Gospel as taught by the prophets and scriptures of the Church. And it also works on a practical, down-to-earth level - it teaches people how to cope with the troubles and trials of their lives in a positive, uplifting and encouraging way. I know the Church was revealed by God - it's just too well-designed to have been created by man!

How I live my faith

I'm currently the President of our congregation's women's organization, a branch of the world's largest women's organization, the LDS Relief Society. It's a joy to serve the women in our area, both within the Church and without. We have organized clothing drives for our local women's shelter, meals for families who've lost loved ones or who've suffered with illnesses or surgery. We've assisted families find housing and provided food and necessities when times were hard for them. I love serving the awesome people in our community and being a facilitator for others in our congregation to serve others, too. It's great to see the willingness of people to help each other. I'm also the President of our local Master Gardener organization, which provides information and classes to the public on the topics of home gardening and landscaping. I teach classes to both the public and other Master Gardeners. I love to teach! I'm scheduled to teach a class for our local library on computer genealogy (the research necessary to create family trees). The teachings of the Gospel gave me the confidence to teach other people, as well as opportunities to practice teaching and serving others while respecting their personal choices.
