Hi I'm Roger

I'm born & raised in Mesa, Arizona. I teach computers in college. I love my wife & family, music, sports and movies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy working with music on my computer. I use software to change words and phrases in popular music that I don't want to listen to, which my children love. Now they can enjoy popular music on their portable media player (iPod) without the offensive words that can be frequent in today's music. Sometimes I simply remove the word, and other times I replace the word with Homer Simpson yelling "D'oh!" It's kind of a hoot to hear! I use the computer to research my ancestors and find my family members hundreds of years ago and in different states and countries. I love playing softball and volleyball, and watching my kids play football and soccer..., and trying to make time to take care of my lawn. Ha! My wife and I got married in 1988. We palyed co-ed softball together for almost 20 years, which was a great way for us to be together, have fun with other friends, and get a little exercise. Now our kids activities have taken over most of that free time, which still gives us family activities to support each other.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 14 I was challenged by my one of my teachers to find out for myself if the Book of Mormon was true. I took this challenge seriously. I participated in LDS seminary class, Sunday School, and youth programs. I read from the Book of Mormon and prayed each night to know if the things I read were true. Slowly and certainly I came to know that this 2nd testament of Jesus Christ was also the word of God; a companion to the Bible. I love participating in service projects and helping others. Service can be through using my back to help people moving, caring for their home, or teaching how to use the computer for job searching, family history work, or helping someone to make their internet use safe for the family. I am happiest when I forget about myself and am involved with making others happy or their lives better.

How I live my faith

I have done many things as service opportunities in the LDS church. I have two families that I visit each month to share a gospel message them while encouraging them to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. My favorite thing to do is teach the children. I fondly remember teaching children that were 7 and turning 8 during the year. Eight is the age that children become accountable for their actions and can be baptised. I would gather the kids in our class and attend the baptism for a class member as they turn 8 throughout the year. It meant a lot to the child being baptised to have their classmates there, and it helped each child gain a better understanding of what it meant to be baptised and become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I feel that I continue to learn each day as I pray, read from the scriptures, and live the gospel teachings. It is an on-going process that does not end. I do feel that I am progressing, which is good. I love seeing my children make good choices, especially in this world where there are many opportunities to make a wrong choice. I love spending time with my spouse, I love being with my family, and I feel good when I choose the right.
