Hi I'm Sara

I am from Costa Rica, but I travel around the world since I am little! I am a Graphic Designer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Costa Rica and grew up there until I was 8 - short after I baptized, my father was offered a position in a country abroad! Ever since I've lived in different countries, I've learned different languages, and I love to learn all I can about different cultures! Since I changed countries and school often, Internet has been a blessing for me! I have my best friends in different countries of the world, but I've been able to keep in touch with them! I learned to use internet since I was young, and my contact with it, made me want to learn more about websites, webdesign and such! Therefore, by the time I was 15, I knew my dream job was web designer! I love my career, and I enjoy everything I learn about it! Being a designer, my everyday life allows me to meet every kind of people: designers tend to be very different and "unique", we love to express our love to design, and we use music, art, fashion to express ourselves. At some point, people may think it is hard to make a balance between the eclectic, eccentric life of a designer and being a responsible member of the church. For me, it has never been a problem. It is true that sometimes your friends in school and work might have very different ideas of what life is about, but your true friends will learn to respect you. I was blessed with awesome friends who are not members, but who do not drink nor smoke, and who life having fun with me in a healthy, responsible way.

Why I am a Mormon

My father baptized while being a teenager, my mother's mom baptized when my mom was barely two years old. Me and my sister had the blessing of being born inside the church, and we all had the privilege to be baptized by our dad when we were 8. I grew up knowing the church was true, because of my parents, my Primary teachers, and all the testimonies around me. But during my Seminary and Young Woman years, I took the challenge of reading the Book of Mormon and the rest of the scriptures, I prayed every day, and I did my best to acquire my testimony. Traveling so much with my family since my childhood, I've had the opportunity to visit a lot of different wards, and to meet many members from all over the world! It is great to know that wherever we go, we will find a warm, loving family in the church! Adapting to new schools has always been a bit hard for me, but adapting to church is easy and fun! It is a very big blessing, every time we moved, we could quickly find people willing to help us feel at home in the church! I feel very blessed, because I've had a lot of wonderful experiences in my life, showing me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I've had my ups and downs in life, but not once did I doubt in His gospel, and it has always been a way to keep me strong. I know things don't happen by coincidence - everything we experience, all the persons we meet, there's a purpose behind that! And it is wonderful when we realize such fact! We must never forget our goal - to go back with out Heavenly Father! I work hard every day, together with my family, to fulfill that goal and to return to Him. I know we -all of us- can make it, because He's prepared the way, He has given us the help, and he knows we have the potential to return and live together for the Eternity!

How I live my faith

My first calling, I received it when I was 13 - music director assistant. One year later, I became the music director! Since music is one of my passions, I love -really, I really love- directing the music at church! Even though ever since I was first called, I've moved several times, I still direct the music! And whenever I have a chance, I join the ward and/or stake choirs, because singing is a beautiful and spiritual experience to me! I really feel our voices reach our Heavenly Father, and I can feel his love. I believe singing is a great way of sharing our spirit with everyone! I've worked in the Primary, first in the Nursery, then as CTR teacher, and then as counselor, and it helped me develop more love and patience for the children! It really is important to realize that they copy us in everything! It encourages me to be a good example, because the children are always watching, and they look up to us! And lastly, for the past two years, I've been in the Young Woman organization -the last one and a half years as President. It felt very strange at first, because I still feel like a Young Woman myself, but it has been awesome to keep sharing with the girls! Being with them encourages me to be a good example - I have to think twice before every decision, because my girls are always watching! Besides, I had the wonderful experience of being the president while my sister was "graduating" from Young Woman, and in a year, my youngest sister will be turning 18 as well, so, I'm after her so she finished her experiences and projects from "My Personal Progress" on time! Serving in the church makes me treasure my presidents and teachers so much. It has given me trouble at times, but it has made my testimony much stronger, since I have received so much strength from our Heavenly Father when I needed it the most! I look forward to see what the Lord wants me to do in the future! I am just starting!
