Hi I'm Sophia

Hi my name is Sophia I an a 29 year old convert to the church! I am married and I have three great crazy kids.

About Me

I am the eldest if four, I was the first member of ny family to become a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and now my youngest brother has also joined. I have an amazing husband who allowed my youngest brother to come live with us at 12, we had only been married a year, he is the best! I had a crazy life growing up, my father was heavily involved in dealing and using drugs, and was abusive to my mother and my siblings. My mother was a waitress and worked a lot. When I was 10 my mother was murdered and my father went to jail. My 3 siblings and I moved in with my grandparents who had an abusive relationship and were alcoholics also. I decided I wanted to break the cycle my family had created and began attending a few diffrent churches. I am the first person in my family to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was baptized in 2002 and married a great man in 2005. My family was not happy about my choice to join the Church, but I have remained strong with my husband's family's help and I love it. It's not Always easy I am sometimes left out but I know it's true and I can't deny that!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church because I know its true. I have always had a testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ but felt so many questions I had could not be answered. When I began meeting with the missionaries I had a no desire to join the Church. I grew up with a family and a church that was very against the Church. I went to meetings with the missionaries prepared to stump them. I had devoted my high school life to studying the Bible took religious college coures, yet I could not stump them. I felt the Spirit and gave me a lot of answers, the answers I had felt were true but no one had ever been able to help me with them. I joined the Church in 2002 and it has been a ride, my family and church I grew up inwere disappointed in me, continually talking to my siblings about my salvation or how I was no longer saved. I have been left out of many things, but I know I made the right decision. My relationship was the Savior and Heavenly Father has grown so much and I know in time they will know its true. My youngest brother is now a member. Life still has its ups and downs but the support and love from other members of the church and the faith I have has helped me to continue.

How I live my faith

I work with the youth, I teach the 12-14 year old girls on Sundays and go to our mid week activities, and I love it. They have helped me to stay strong, I know they are our future and they will be teaching my kids. It gives me hope for life. The mid week activities vary sometimes we just go a game, sometimes service, sometimes a spiritual lesson.
