Hi I'm Dee

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was the youngest power dispatcher in the USA. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate engineer and have worked in the electric utility industry for 40 years as an engineer, power dispatcher, manager of Energy Management Systems and Operations trainer. I play all keyboard instruments and had my own band during high school and college. I am an amateur radio operator, and involved in emergency communications and preparedness where I teach courses in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Community Emergency Response teams and Ham radio. I have been involved in the Boy Scouts for 38 years and have received the Silver Beaver award. I am serving in my second term as a City Councilman. I am a member of a medieval re-creation society and work in leatherwork, archery, Mongol hat making and embroidery. My wife and I love to camp, hike and explore new places where we can marvel at nature and the beauty of this world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have always had a testimony of Jesus Christ and our relationship with our Heavenly Father. I continue to be faithful to my religion because it is my life. I am very curious and the Mormon faith answers all of my questions. I could not imagine not being married to my wonderful wife of 37 years for eternity, and having my two sons with me as a family forever. Finally and most important, I have received a personal testimony of the truthfulness of Mormonism through studying the scriptures and personal prayer.

How I live my faith

I have served in many positions of leadership and teaching in our church. I have and continue to serve the young men in scouting, not only in our church but in the district and council as well. I serve as the Emergency Preparedness Specialist where we teach and instruct our members to be prepared for emergencies and disasters. I am proud to be a home teacher to four wonderful families. We offer assistance both in temporal and spiritual affairs for our families. I believe in being involved in our communities and am currently serving my second term as a City Councilman. I am a Team Leader in two Emergency Radio Services, as well as being a Community Emergency Response Team Leader and Trainer. I also serve on the Board of Directors for our regional fire department.
