Hi I'm Alauna

I live in Oregon and converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints thirty-four years ago, at the age of sixteen.

About Me

I am an avid cat lover. If I had a bigger house, a lot more property and a good supply of money I would retire and have an animal rescue center where I could take care of unwanted animals of all kinds. My heart goes out to animals that are hurting, abused, lonely, and in need of a loving touch. I enjoy watching sports...pro basketball and college/pro football are my favorites. I've been a Dallas Cowboys fan since I was twelve, a Portland Trailblazer fan for about the last twenty-five years and I am an enthusiastic Oregon Ducks fan....GO DUCKS!!! I schedule my final vacation every year during the last week of December so that I can gleefully sit on the couch with my favorite snacks and watch bowl game after bowl game after bowl game. I am employed as a General Manager and help my brother-in-law manage his two mini marts. I am responsible for the bookkeeping and for handling the people side of the business which means I have had to learn how to deal with many different personality types and try not to loose control of my own sanity. It's been a challenge, but so far so good. I enjoy listening to music, dining out, reading, watching movies, doing crossword and other mind bending puzzles, playing board games, doing genealogy work, singing (I sing Alto and Tenor), and spending time with my pets, friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so thankful for my membership in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that it has wrought a great change in my life and provided me with more blessings than I can measure. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he did see and talk with God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for him and his sincere desire to know the truth and I will be ever grateful for his courage to stand for that truth in the face of all adversity. I know that we are led by a true prophet today, Thomas S. Monson, and that he receives direct revelations from God for each of us. I know that if we heed his words and follow his counsel we will not be led astray. I know that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ. I know that God loves each and every one of us unconditionally and that He wants nothing more than for each of His children to return to Him when our lives are finished. I know that Jesus Christ loved us so much that he freely gave his life for us. I know that it is only through him and by him that we can return home to our Father in Heaven. He has paid the ultimate price for us and will make up for our short comings if we truly have faith in him and do all we can to pattern our lives after him. I know that The Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is another testament of Jesus Christ. As we read and study all of the scriptures together we will gain a greater understanding and testimony of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, the gospel, and what is expected of us. I am so grateful for the companionship of the Holy Ghost. He is a great friend. I am so grateful for all the many blessings my Heavenly Father has given me and I know He has more in store. I look forward to growing stronger each and every day and learning more. No matter how old we get, we can always learn more.

How I live my faith

I have served the Lord in many areas of his church. My very first calling was as a Nursery Leader which is a class for children under three years of age. While I was attending a Single's Ward (a single's congregation), I served as a Ward Family Home Evening Group Leader and Ward Family Home Evening Coordinator. Once I moved into family Wards, my opportunities to serve expanded. I was first given the opportunities to serve the singles, three times as a Ward Young Single Adult Representative which entailed organizing activities for all Ward single members eighteen to thirty, then as a Stake Young Single Adult Representative which entailed helping to organize activities for all Stake singles eighteen to thirty and finally as a Ward Single Adult Representative which entailed organizing activities for all Ward singles over thirty. I have been given opportunities to serve in the Primary, which is the organization for all children ages three to twelve. I have served the Primary as a Primary Teacher for girls ages ten to twelve, Primary Second Counselor, Primary President, Boy Scout Committee Member, and I am currently serving as a Primary Teacher for the six and seven year old children. I have also served in the Young Women's organization, which is the organization for all girls ages twelve to eighteen. There I have served as Young Women's Camp Group Leader, Ward Young Women's Camp Director, Stake Young Women's Camp Committee Member, and Young Women's President. I have been privileged to serve in the Relief Society, which is the organization for all women over eighteen years. There I have served as Relief Society Teacher and Relief Society First Counselor. Other service opportunities I have had were as a Bulletin Coordinator, Ward Chorister, Ward Choir Director, Gospel Essentials Teacher (class instruction for investigators & new members), Choir Member, Visiting Teacher, and twice as a Stake Missionary. I look forward to serving the Lord where ever I am called.
