Hi I'm Sharie

I am a teacher. My family and I adopted our youngest daughter from China. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a reading teacher to adults at the college level. I graduated from the university with my teaching credential and taught elementary school children in my early teaching days. I have always considered myself one who reaches beyond my natural capacities to increase my education. Currently, I am a doctoral student in the field of education. I enjoy working with adults who have challenges with reading and who have had a difficult start in this life. I have five children who bring me great joy! We adopted our youngest daughter from China four years ago. The beauty of this experience was amazing! I have been married for almost 15 years and find great joy in spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

My response to this question is very simple. My affiliation with the church defines my life. Everything that I do, from helping an adult to read to visiting with a neighbor, is done with one goal in mind. My goal is to serve my Savior, Jesus Christ with all of my heart. Everything that I do each day has a greater purpose, and the gospel of Jesus Christ helps me to follow the principles which I know that are true. Heavenly Father was the same yesterday as he is today and will be tomorrow. The gospel provides a lasting foundation of happiness and the reminder that our lives are eternal. Therefore, each step that I take each day has a greater purpose beyond what we see on the surface.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by remembering that I strive to do what is right, yet trying very hard not to be too hard on myself when I fail. Deciding to follow the Savior and our Heavenly Father requires that we make a deep commitment to turn our lives to Him. I live my faith by standing as a witness of the Savior by being positive, smiling, and doing all that I can to serve my fellow man. Small acts of kindness do go a long way, and I strive to be a light to others around me who need that extra reassurance. I know my Savior's love in all small, incidental actions around me. Service is one of the greatest ways that I live my faith.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon means that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This means that my life encompasses the belief that there is an eternal life beyond life on earth. Everything that we do has an eternal, higher purpose. Just pondering this thought makes me smile! All of the joy that we feel is purposeful, and all of the pain we encounter teaches us patience, compassion, and provides opportunities for hope. I feel grounded in the knowledge that my life is eternal and that my Savior understands my trials, joys, and frustrations. Being a Mormon means that I have a solid foundation of brothers and sisters supporting me as I commune with them each week at our worship services. Show more Show less
