Hi I'm Sylvia~

I'm from Taiwan and was baptized when I was fifteen. Truely converted when I was eighteen. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Taiwan and am a junior in university. I have been in the United States for almost three years now~American education system is just the opposite of Asian's. Therefore, I still need to study hard while attending university!! University life here is not known as people think as 由你玩四年!!Anyway, I'm glad that I have a amazing opportunity to come to this Mormon Town to continue my education. It's been a great experience of studying here. However, I would like to say that it doesn't matter where we gain our education, the important thing is to be where the Lord wants you to be!

Why I am a Mormon

At first, it was just simply because I didn't want to disappoint my mom since she really wanted me to be baptized. Because of that, I was inactive during my high school years. As you know, it's going to be hard to keep a higher standard since people around you just live as the society is. I was't obey the word of wisdom and I didn't feel bad about it. Perhaps sometimes, I did feel guilty when I was breaking the commandments. My parents, they had never force me to go back to church during my inactive period. However, they stayed faithful in the church and it became the reason which brought me back to church after three years. I remembered that I decided to turn to God when I couldn't adjust to my college life. All I wanted was to run away from school. I believed it was the way that God prepared for me to come back to church. After I quit my school in Taiwan, I went abroad. I came to this Mormon place to learn English. Being among lots of faithful members, I saw their examples and wanted to be one of them. I came back to church because I felt the love of our Lord. He didn't abandon me when I was inactive. He keeps loving me and forgiving what I have done wrong. I feel the happiness when I live the Gospel. I feel the touch of the spirit and know that this is the only true church of Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon because I have the testimony that God lives. He loves us unconditionally and he gives us His beloved son, Jesus Christ, to atone for our sins. I testify that if you will allow the spirit to carry the true message unto your heart, you will know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

To live my faith is not easy since no one is perfect. I feel disappointed with few of our members sometimes because of seeing their bad examples. However, no one should have influence on our faith. If we're willing to build a strong relationship with the Lord, we will have the desire to become a better person and our faith will be strengthened. First, read the scriptures daily. Reading scriptures daily really helps me increase my testimony of the Lord. I didn't feel learning a lot from the scriptures until the third time I reread it. The only way to receive revelation or to gain a better understanding of what the Lord wants to teach us is to read and ponder the scriptures. As I start to ponder the words in the Book of Mormon, I understand it a lot better than I used to. Second, pray daily. To pray daily is another important part of building my faith in God. He does listen to our prayers and gives us answers. However, He do it in His way not our way. Heavenly Father is always available to hear us whenever we have need. Every time I pray, it reminds me of a loving Heavenly Father who is always there to look after me and to support me. Third, attend Sabbath day meeting. To go to church every Sunday is not only to socialize with our friends, but more important is to renew our covenants and to remember the sacrifice Jesus did for us. I also learn more about the gospel from those who are maturer than me in church. Last but not least, listen to the prophet. General Conference gives me a great opportunity to increase my faith. I can feel the spirit when our authorities give talks in Conference. I also receive many answers to my questions by listening to the General Conference. I believe the only way to grow in faith is to have the desire of becoming more like Jesus Christ.
