Hi I'm Patricia

I grew up in the midwest, but now live in the south east US. I am a middle school science teacher, a mother, and Mormon.

About Me

I love to read young adult fiction (it helps me relate to those I teach), to spend time with my son, friends, and my dogs. I worked hard to earn my master's degree in K-8 math and science education and teach middle school science (currently I split between 6th & 8th). I care for my Chiquaqua, Alysha and stafford shire bull terrier, Taylor. I was married for 3 years, and although it hasn't worked out, I don't regret the experience and have learned and grown from it.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the church, I became inactive during my teen years. I never stopped believing in the teachings of the church, I just didn't have the support to continue. After many years away, I had my son and with his birth, came back to the church with the support of my family. Since being back in the LDS church, I have learned to be a more patient, loving and caring person. I have been able to build myself spiritually and mentally. I am a Mormon, because I know it is the right place for me. I believe that Thomas Monson is the current prophet and president of the church, that the presidency and apostles are also prophets of this church and that Jesus Christ is the foundation of everything we believe. I love the church because is in not changing with the world, that it does not accept what society accepts as the norm and teaches of morality, cleanliness, and that we can repent of our sins. I love that all members are a part of the church, that members teach each other. I love that family is first and that there are always people around to help when needed.

How I live my faith

I have served in the church in many capacities. I have led the music for both the young children and the women of our church, I have taught many classes, visited those in need, and worked with the young women (12-17 year old) of the church as a mentor, teacher, and advisor. I love and miss my young women. I have moved into a new ward (building), and am meeting new friends all the time. I try to bring Christ into the home in all I do. Although each day brings new challenges, I always keep a prayer in my heart and try think positively.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

YES, to believe that God would leave us without a prophet to lead us just seems completely against everything that God is. Just as in the times of the Bible, prophets were believed by some and not by many others. In fact many others didn't believe in a current prophets, only those from the past. This is still the case today. Why wouldn't God send us prophets today to lead us, especially when so much is going on. Show more Show less
