Hi I'm Sami

I grew up in Washington state. I am the youngest of 6 kids. I live in South America . I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a newly married lady living in a new country. I´m working to help put my husband through school and am having fun adjusting to a new culture. I love music. Playing it, listening, singing...everything. When I´m bored, I find new recipes on the internet and head to the kitchen to try them out. I love cooking and my husband loves eating so everything works out great.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the good fortune to be born into a family that taught me about the church. My mother converted years ago in college even before she met with the missionaries. When she was younger, she began to doubt that she had found the full truth in her religion and started searching for it in other faiths. One day,she was talking with a stranger about the church while she was picking beets and she felt it was true. She met with the missionaries after that and was baptized 6 weeks later (the soonest she could after the first meeting). I always had her example and testimony growing up which, along with the examples and testimonies of my leaders in the church, helped me to stay strong and expect more of myself. I wanted to know and be sure just like her. Through reading the scriptures and praying and especially trying my best every day, I´ve felt that this is the place Heavenly Father wants me to be. That´s why I´m here. I started here because of my family, but I stayed because I know it´s true.

How I live my faith

I had the honor of serving a full-time mission for the church (18 months). It was one of the best experiences of my life and I hope I will be able to serve another with my husband when we are older. For now, I try to do my best to help in church whenever asked, especially with the music because I love it so much. It´s so fulfilling to go to church with my husband and see how we grow as individuals and how we grow together. I always support him in his calling and help him whenever he asks (he is a recent convert to the church so sometimes he has questions). Even though I´m the one who served a mission, my husband is an amazing example to me of talking with his friends and family about the church. I live my faith by being the best I can each day, or at least trying. :)

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is knowing in your heart that something is true. When I have a testimony of something, I can´t deny that it´s true. I feel it in my soul. It´s what motivates me to keep trying even when things are difficult because I know in my heart that it´s right. Show more Show less
