Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in South Carolina. I love reading and singing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, and i am currently working as a software developer for the LDS Church. I have been married a wonderful man named Peter for over 2 years. I love to sing, read, watch movies and tv shows, and spend time with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I've never truly doubted that its teachings are true. I have prayed and gained a testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet led by the Lord, that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God, that President Monsen is a prophet today, just as Moses was in Old Testament times, and that this Church is the only church on Earth with authority from God and with the entire truth of the Gospel. I also know without a doubt that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, that He suffered and died for my sins, that He was resurrected, and that He lives now. I know that God is my Father, and I have felt the Holy Ghost guide me. I know that when I pray my Heavenly Father answers me. Always. I know that when I obey the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, my life is better, and I am happier. I love the Gospel!

How I live my faith

I pray daily, and I try to be kind to others. I read the scriptures every day, and I attend church meetings on Sunday. I do my best to be honest, and I just try to be the best person I can be and follow my Savior's example.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The simplest definition I can give of the Atonement is "a sacrifice for sin" (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 2:7), yet the Atonement is not simple at all. I could study my whole life and still never fully comprehend the majesty that is the Atonement. The Atonement is Christ's suffering and the sacrifice of His body and blood for the sins of the world. The purpose of the Atonement is to reconcile us to God (Book of Mormon, Jacob 4:11). I looked up the definition of "reconcile" on dictionary.com and four words stood out to me. The Atonement brings us into "agreement" with God because when we access the Atonement and apply it to our lives, we give our will to God. It brings us into "harmony" with God because when we qualify for the Atonement, we are in tune with the Holy Ghost, the member of the Godhead that helps us know right from wrong. It makes us "compatible" with God because it makes us worthy to live with Him in the eternities. Finally, it makes us "consistent" with God because through it we stay true to His teachings and our lives become what He would have us make them. Beautiful Atonement Scriptures: Mosiah 14:5, 10 (Book of Mormon) and 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (Holy Bible). Christ had to sacrifice His life so that we could be resurrected. He had to choose to give His life in order to be able to take it up again and be resurrected Himself, so that we could all be resurrected. If we could not be resurrected, we could not return to the presence of God. Show more Show less
