Hi I'm Jeff

I'm a computer guy. I've got a "Brady Bunch" family. I live in Kirkland, Washington. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I've worked in high technology my entire life and love it. I'm lucky that I get to enjoy time with my family which includes boating, wakeboarding, dirtbiking, watching sports, playing games, and watching movies. I do enjoy just about anything with a ball, motor or a racquet. While I'm no Bear Grylls, I also like being involved with the Boy Scouts of America. Like most guys, I've got a serious weakness for Home Depot and rib-eye steaks. I hope I'm never forced to choose between those two things. Both seem to inspire a trance-like state.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church as a last chance effort to save their failed marriage (it was one of many my family joined). After my parents split, the church organization helped my mother, a single parent home with many of the necessities of life including creating a Christmas experience for us kids where there would have been none. Shortly after that, I went to live with my grandparents in a different city where the church organization again got me involved in a location where I knew no-one. While those experiences helped me understand the humanitarian focus of the church organization and the loving demeanor of its members, it wasn't until my older brother challenged me to read the Book of Mormon that I knew my path. I was only 12 years old the first time i read the stories of ancient prophets living on this, the American Continent and their dealings of trying to follow Heavenly Father and then falling away and then back again, that I began to wonder about my own relationship with God. As I listened to their teachings, I felt deep in my heart the truthfulness of the principles those prophets taught and how they matched with the teachings of the biblical prophets all leading me to believe in Christ and to follow Him with my whole heart and that I can give away all of my sins and be washed clean. While on my knees, I had then the same experience that I've had repeated many times since of feeling the Spirit of God whispering to my heart the message that these things are from my Heavenly Father. I felt a deep sense of belonging, being truly a child of God and knowing that I'm not alone her eon the earth. The latter day prophet who translated the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, had to have been inspired and under his direction because no man could have written that book - it is from God. I know that living these principles will bring us closer to our Heavenly Father and feel his peace in our hearts.

How I live my faith

I LOVE the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The good news is truly that every one of us can live a life of peace knowing that our past mistakes are paid for by our Savior so long as we make and keep our covenants with Him. A quote that I saw stated that simply with "Every Saint has a past... and every sinner a future" I got to sound off that same message on my mission in which i spent two years in Argentina. I'll never forget one grandmother who had carried with her the guilt of a serious transgression from her youth and had agonized for 50 years the thought that her soul was doomed. I got to be with her as she was taught the gospel and later was baptized. I was filled with the Spirit and the knowledge that she was forgiven. My focus now is on my family - in helping them see the same message of the gospel. To help them with their own internal spiritual strength focused on Jesus Christ. I want them to feel that same redeeming love and know that they are truly children of a loving Heavenly Father who has a plan for them. One of the most beautiful aspects of the gospel is the principle of Eternal Marriage. I'm not planning on being with my wife 'til death do you part.' My plan is to ensure that the ordinances in the temple seal us together forever - so long as we do our part and live worthily of those covenants. I can be together throughout all eternity with the girl of my dreams and that the sting of death won't end my union with her.
