Hi I'm Jenny Harper Steed

I'm an energetic, joyful, flamingo-loving, artistic, Portuguese-speaking, Brazilian-at-heart wife and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As the sun rises each day I awake to see the tiny face of my beautiful new baby girl. My husband prepares for work and kisses us goodbye before leaving. Little Lydia and I then have the whole day together to explore her new world! I soak in every moment as she feels the sunshine and warm breeze for the first time, lays in the grass, shows her gummy smile and naps in her purple swing. While she sleeps I paint, sew, quilt, craft, cook, workout (P90X!) blog and catch a nap myself. Some nights are long and tiring, spent feeding and rocking, requiring every ounce of energy I have. Yet I know that all too soon these days will be gone and I never want to let a single, precious moment pass me by! I love my dear husband and we love our little family! For the past three years, I taught elementary school, two of these years I taught Portuguese Immersion to first-graders, helping my American students learn and become fluent in the Portuguese Language! I learned Portuguese four years ago while serving as a missionary in Brazil. I LOVE Brazilian culture! I love the food, the sights, and most of all my Brazilian friends, some here in Utah and others still in Brazil.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because first of all, it makes me incredibly happy! My husband Mitch and I are astounded each day at how wonderful life is, and we know that it is only because of Jesus Christ. We know that because we were married in a holy Temple and united by Christ, we will live through eternity together as husband and wife, never to part with death. Secondly, I'm a Mormon because I read The Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was true. I felt profoundly within my heart that it is. It testifies of the divinity of Jesus Christ and tells of His ministry on the American continent, just as the Holy Bible testifies of Him in Jerusalem. The only way that ANYONE can know if it is true is to ask. This is my invitation to everyone in the world--to do as The Book of Mormon invites and ask God if it is not true. I know that He will answer as He does all of His children who ask with faith.

How I live my faith

Each day, like everyone else, I make mistakes. I say and do things that I wish I didn't. Yet since I have the Gospel of Jesus Christ, every day I can become a new person and be better than I was before. I can find personal peace in a world completely devoid of peace. If you've read these profiles and wonder how you can become a member, you must simply: 1. Pray 2. Come visit our church meetings 3. Read from The Book of Mormon and ask God if it's true. If you feel in your heart from God that it is true, missionaries can teach and guide you and prepare you for baptism, the first step. That is what I did. Even after baptism I still make mistakes but it's okay. I repent each day, pray, go to church each week, read from the scriptures daily, and take the Sacrament each week where I can again become clean. We'll all be making mistakes as long as we live, but because of the sufferings of Jesus Christ, I know that we can all change and become better every single day.
