Hi I'm Richard

I'm a Mormon, I am a convert, I grew up as a Baptist in Missouri. I joined the church in 2009.

About Me

I am a father of three sons and one daughter. I grew up on a farm in Missouri. I went to college at Southwest Missouri State University where I studied accounting. I make a living as a CPA. On week-ends I instruct young people how to ride horses. I have a motor cycle which I love to ride. I am a private pilot and own an interest in a small plane, which I do not get to fly as much as I would like. I love to snow ski, ride bikes and camp.

Why I am a Mormon

Like everyone else I have had many trials in my life. Each time i needed to turn to Heavenly Father for help. When my youngest son was 16 and my daughter 6 I faced a very tough time. I once again I called on God for help to get through. It was during that process I realized I had not provided religious training to my children. As a family we started to look for a church home. We visited several different churches in our area including the local Baptist Church. At the time our neighbors were members of the LDS Church, I asked if we could attend services with them. In a short while I invited the Missionaries to teach us about the Mormon Church. Because Mormons believe things that I had not been taught as a Baptist I had a lot of questions. As I sought answers I learned a lot about the LDS Church and its doctrines. While I questions the differences the Missionaries instructed me to pray and seek answers from God and each time the answers did come and confirm the correctness of the doctrines. Both during the time I was investigating the LDS Church and even today, as I learn more about God's church I know it is his true church. I continue to learn each day about the Church and the more I learn the more I know God loves each of us and wants us to be happy. I am a Mormon because the Spirit of God has testified to me that this is His true Church. I am sharing my testimony here with the hope that everyone that reads it will find the joy, peace and happiness that God wants them to have. God's glory is knowledge and love, he teach us to love one another.

How I live my faith

To the extent possible I attend services on Sunday. My current calling in the Church requires me to attend early morning meetings with leaders in what we call councils. The business conducted affects the members in a sizable area and members of several wards (wards are grouping of members that meet in church services). Also as part of my calling I attend different wards/church services. In addition to attending services, I try to live my daily life in a way that reflects my beliefs and my love for God, which means I try to always keep his commandments. I volunteer on week-ends with a youth organization that teaches young people to ride horses and trains them to perform precision drills. Which has the added benefit of teaching them self reliance and strong character. I love business and try to always conduct my affairs in as fair and honest way possible. In my professional life I enjoy helping others find solutions to financial and tax problems. I particularly enjoy helping to plan and develop businesses to grow.
