Hi I'm Ellen Schilt

I am a daddy's girl. I am a singer, I love music and I love to laugh. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a high school student in Arizona. Music is my life. I'm in show choir as well as two of my high school choirs. My family is based on music, whether it be me and my choir music, my dad with his love for the Beatles, or my sister who loves belting out to every song on the radio. I have 5 siblings, two brothers, and three sisters. I have two nephews, Achilles Christian, and Kable Allen, they are the light of my life and I love them. My parents are divorced, but their divorce has made the connection between me and my brothers and sisters so much stronger and I know that in a way, it was a blessing from the Lord. I love being a Mormon. The gospel is the greatest blessing the Lord has given me. Though I face opposition from kids at school and other adults, I have full faith in my Heavenly Father and I always strive to stay steadfast in him and my religion.

Why I am a Mormon

Everything makes sense, and there is an answer for every questions. My parents are both converts and found the church a little over a year before I was born. My mother accepted the church before my dad did. It took him 5 years to truly understand the gospel. By then my 3 older siblings were born. I was the first baby born in the covenant. I grew up with the gospel, but I didn't gain a testimony until I was 14 years old. When I asked the Lord to know the truth about the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and the LDS faith in general, my doubts were wiped away. The Lord, through the Holy Ghost, manifested to me the truth of all things by a fire within me that warmed my soul and brought me to tears of joy. I'm a Mormon because it was revealed to me through the Lord that this gospel was true, and that this gospel would help me obtain true happiness and eternal life.

How I live my faith

Being in high school and staying true to yourself can sometimes be difficult. Other kids don't understand my standards and why I live the way I do, so they judge me. I live my faith by standing up against the opposition of the devil. Religion is not a major part of peoples lives anymore. But I try to show everyday what I believe in, through service and kindness. Seminary is a huge part of my life, without it I wouldn't understand the scriptures like I do, and I wouldn't have such a great testimony of the scriptures. Through service I show people my faith in God. If it's helping babysit a leaders kids, or smiling at someone in the hallway every action of mine shows who I am and what I believe in. High school is hard, and it's only going to get harder as temptation continues to surface, but I will always stand true and always show my testimony of my Heavenly Father through my actions.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Ellen Schilt
The Bible is the word of God. It was divinely written and given to us to learn about Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and who we are as his spirit children. It is a sacred book that has been given to us to help us on our journey in this life. Though Mormons are only known for reading the Book of Mormon we also hold the Bible close to our hearts. It is the word of God, and we must feast upon it's contents and learn all we can about the past. Show more Show less
