Hi I'm Brendan

I'm a son, a friend, and a future missionary. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I enjoy learning about languages, playing football, performing in musicals, and bring joy to those around me. I am currently preparing to serve the Lord as called through his prophet to serve in the France Lyon mission. I am so excited and can't wait to serve and to love the people of France.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the gospel, but I found out for myself why I am in this church. My parents have been divorced several times. Every time they did, I had a hard time with it. I couldn't function like I used to because of what was happening to my family. I then found the lord in my time of need. He gave me comfort and the strength to pull through the difficult times. It is through this strengthening of my spirit during these troubled times where i found my faith in my savior, Jesus Christ. He is always there for me in my time of need and distress. It is because of his divine and endless mercy that I know that I am a part of the true church of God and that I must stand as a witness of Him in all things, at all times, and in all places.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. I strive each and every day to be better than I am and to help others along their way. We all struggle and face hardships and trials and it is through the strength that I receive from my Heavenly Father that I manage to overcome. I try to serve others as best as I can in my everyday life whether it be uplifting them with a nice comment or helping them to overcome situations which may beset them.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Brendan
No one is required to serve a mission for the Church. God has given us agency and it would be against that agency to force us to serve a mission for him. Every member who decides to serve a mission does it voluntarily with no thought for themselves. As missionaries they do not get paid for their service and serve from 18 months to 2 years. We as church members think very highly of missionaries because they give of their time to serve God and to teach others of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that by serving full-time missions we can bless the lives of our fellow men with the word of God and that we ourselves will be blessed for the sacrifice we made to our Heavenly Father. Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Brendan
I like to think about it this way. Say you are a clerk at a store. If you go up to a co-worker and tell them they are fired what is going to happen? Nothing, because you don't have the authority to do that only the manager who has been given the authority can fire someone. Just like you can't fire someone, you can't baptize someone unless you have the proper authority given to you by God. It was through the restoration of the gospel that our Heavenly Father gave us he authority once more to baptize in his name through the power of the Aaronic Priesthood. Show more Show less
