Hi I'm Scott

I grew up on a potato farm. I am now a 3rd year dental student in Arizona with a wife and a 2 year old girl and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 6 years and have a 2 year old daughter going on 20! I am in my third year in dental school and absolutely love it. A common phrase for the stage of school I am in is "drillin', fillin', but not billin'". I'm a sports person, especially basketball.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I am Mormon, but it all started when I was 17 years old. I grew up being raised a Mormon yet I really didn't believe anything for myself until one experience changed my life. On a Sunday morning, my Dad came into my room and said, "Get up it's time to go to church." Of course I was a teenager that loved my sleep and started to complain. As I laid in bed waiting for my Dad to yell and get upset with me I was surprised at the next comment my Dad made to me, "You don't have to go. In fact, it's time for you to either believe in this church for yourself and stop relying on your mother and me." This was shocking to me. For the first time in my life I had to stop relying on my parent's beliefs and find out for myself what was true and what wasn't. Through study and prayer (specifically Moroni 10:3-5) I later came to know that the Book of Mormon was true and that Joseph Smith really was a prophet of God sent to restore the true gospel back on the Earth. There have been many experiences since then that have strengthened my belief in God and His Son Jesus Christ. That is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

I currently am a Ward Mission Leader in my ward. I have the duty of searching diligently for those who are seeking the same gospel that I have found. I also am a home teacher. Once a month an assigned companion and I visit two families in our ward and share a gospel related message. In a couple of weeks our community is participating in a "day of service" in which I have been put in charge of. I also am involved with many dental-related programs in the community where we help children receive proper oral health care.
