Hi I'm Mark

I'm an avid reader, I'm a self-proclaimed "nerd," I'm a surfer, I'm a father of twins, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love video games and reading. However, with two young twin girls welcomed into the family, I hardly have the time I used to have to fantasize about fantasy worlds. I enjoy everything from vintage video games to the modern online game play. Of course, I love fantasy and science fiction books just as much. In my spare time I try to get involved in free lance writing but that usually falls by the wayside given the demands of career and family life. I am an attorney by trade; however, I do not spend all my time indoors. When I get a chance, I am a surfer at heart. I love the ocean and all the fascinating creatures in it. Sometimes I wonder if I should have become a marine biologist. I also enjoy hiking, camping, and fishing. However, my greatest accomplishment so far is being a father. It is a totally new experience that I would not trade for anything in the world. It took my wife and I eight years of trying before we could have a child. The wait was well worth it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe. Unlike the fantasy stories I love to read, there is a real power and strength that comes from living the word of God. I may not be perfect but, as I repent and live the gospel, I feel a peace that is different from any other peace I have found in this world. There is no greater gift than the sprit of God. Through revaluation like the days of old in the Old and New Testaments, God helps me and guides me through difficult decisions or trials. I am a Mormon because deep down inside I know it is true.

How I live my faith

I go to church on Sundays to recharge my batteries for the week. I gather spritual strength by listening to the testimonies and lessons of others. Also, I renew my covenants with my Savior to do better. While I am far from perfect, I work at improving something each week. Additionally, I have learned over the years not to be a hermit. I try to take an active roll in my community by being social and providing service when I can. I have found a lot of happiness in helping my neighbors and improving my community. I currently am the Ward Clerk at my church. My job is to ensure that membership records are up to date and everyone is accounted for. It is an interesting assignment and right up my alley.
