Hi I'm James

I am a New Zealand born Samoan. I Love Rugby and I am studying to be a Financial Planner and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Wellington New Zealand but now live with my family in Brisbane Australia. I am a Husband to a beautiful Wife Sarah. We have 3 young children, Hyrum who is 4, Sariah who is 3 and Israel who is 10 months. My first love is my wife and children and then Rugby!!! I dropped out of school at a young age what a dumb mistake that was. I didn't realise how important education was till later in life. I am now almost 29 and nearly finished my Diploma in Financial Services and hopefully I will move on to University. Knowledge is definitely Power. I love playing Touch Football on Saturdays with some friends from Church, but most of all I like playing with my family whether it be in the backyard or at the beach or wrestling on the lounge room floor with my kids, I am a definite believer that family that plays together stays together.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the Church but i did not fully recognise that I actually believed in the Church until I was 21. At this time i had not been attending Church for quite a few years. Then the missionaries just happened to find me one day as they were knocking on doors. They soon found out that was actually a member of there Church and asked i would attending one of there Sacrament Meetings. I said yes only to keep them off my back and thinking nothing would really come out it. Well to cut a long story short I meet some wonderful guys who were very friendly and they started inviting me to these different activities and I actually started to like being with them. It was a different feeling to what I had experienced with my other friends. I learnt more and more about the Gospel, even though I had been a member all my life, I basically went to church because my Mum told me i had to. Through out this whole experience I felt this warmth and this feeling of peace and I knew that what I was learning about and what i was doing was the right thing. There was no pressure. Well I eventually had been back to Church for a year or so and then served a full-time mission for the church in Auckland New Zealand. I got home in November 2004 and meet my lovely wife May 6th 2005 and was married to her 29th of October 2005. I want to be with my family not only in this life but forever and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints provides me with that opportunity. I now know that the teachings are true and am grateful for the 2 young missionaries who knocked on my door and cared enough to invite me to come along.

How I live my faith

In the church I teach whats called a Seminary Teacher. Every morning at 6am except weekends, a group of young men and women from Grade 9 to Grade 12 come to my home where i share with them principles from the scriptures. I try and help them understand the scriptures and then see where these principles can be applied or used in there everyday life. Each Student does this for 4 years. This is a big commitment for youth this age, but i have around 13 of them come every morning. They make me feel young again. I love sharing my thoughts and feelings with them.
