Hi I'm Jim

My father was in the RAF and I went to school in Egypt, Germany, Singapore and UK. I love sports of all kinds and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired businessman with experience in the computer industry and building outdoor entertainment areas. I enjoy keeping myself fit through walking and other exercising. I am a keen family history researcher and enjoy showing others how to research their own family's history. I am an active husband, father and grandfather and enjoy spending time with all the family whenever I can.

Why I am a Mormon

Having grown up in an active Catholic family, I always had an interest in religion. When the missionaries from the Mormon church visited our home I was interested enough to invite them in to listen to their message. They emphasised at all times that it was up to me to determine for myself, through prayer, whether their message was true or not. After a lot of prayer and seeking for divine knowledge I was sufficiently convinced of the truth of their message to be baptised, much to the disdain of my family. My experiences since that time have only served to strengthen my knowledge and understanding of Our Heavenly Father's plan for us all on this earth. The Gospel has been the main reason I have enjoyed my family so much over the last 45 years and why we remain a close knit and loving family even when we live in different parts of the world. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been the rock and foundation of my testimony as I have experienced the blessings that come from living in accordance with God's will.

How I live my faith

Over the years I have served in many different responsibilities in the Church. I have spent time as a youth leader, a minister to a congregation of about 350 members and a co-leader to a number of different congregations totalling about 2000 members. Each of those responsibilities have taight me a great deal that I was able to use in my temporal career. The sacrifice of time was far exceeded by the benefits and blessings that were returned by a kind Heavenly Father to my family. A few years ago I and my wife were blessed to be able to serve a full time mission to the Baltic States, where we were able to share our testimonies of the Gospel af Jesus Christ with many people who knew little about the Saviour. We were also able to pass on our knowledge and understanding of the Church and witness first hand the joy that the Gospel of Jesus Christ was able to bring into peoples lives and how it changes their lives for the better. This mission was the highlight of our Church service and allowed us to experience a different culture to our own and to make many long lasting friendships that we will enjoy for the rest of our lives. The experience had such an impact on us that we are already planning another mission to wherever the Lord feels we can be of most help to our fellow man. Our desire in life is to do the Lord's will, wherever that leads us, for as long as our resources last us.
