Hi I'm McKay

I´m a student, a brother, and a son. And I´m a Mormon

About Me

I´m nineteen, and I´m living in México sharring what I know about this great Gospel! I went to BYU for about a semester before this and after gratuating from High school. My family lives in Alpine Ut, but I grew up in Minnesota. I have a rather quiet disposition but I like to get to know people. Doing it in Spanish now and loving it!

Why I am a Mormon

For me there isn´t a life worth living without being a Mormon: I know that this is the curch of God and that through the principles and teachings of it I´ve recieved the great light of truth in my life. God has given me of his tender mercies and has helped me learn so many lessons through my trials. So what else could I ask for? Salvation? But I can earn that too- as long as I live worthily of it according to how God has outlined through the words of his prophets. I know that is true, and I can not deny it.

How I live my faith

My big goal in life is to be a peace maker. That's what I want to do, and the greatest peace I´ve found is in my faith in Christ. Turning in quiet prayer to my Heavenly Father in my times of needs brings me the greatest peace. Therefor I'm going to teach the gospel in Mexico so that more people can enjoy the blessing of having faith of Heavenly Father and of Christ in their lives.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

McKay
Mormons live a lot of different lives, but they have great commonality in a few things such as daily prayer and scripture study, and weekly attendance of church. We keep the laws of wherever we live and the comandments as found in the scriptures, but that still leaves us a lot of time and choices to make. Work could be anything from selling a product door to door to being a ceo. Doing what´s right isn´t so ristricting if you can see the blessing that come from it. So, yeah. Living life but at the same time keeping God in it. Show more Show less

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

McKay
Mormons are Followers of the teachings and guidances of Jesus Christ in all their forms. These are through the Holy Ghost who testifies of trueth, the scriptures, the prophets of old and prophets today, the good examples of those around us, and threw the example of Chist himself. The guidance of Christ is a way of living, he taught that all must have faith in him unto repentance, Baptism by imersion, recieving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Many pure and virtuous doctrines were lost after the death of the apostoles and the Church was left in the hands of not nessicarily inspired men. Many people trying sincerely to follow Christ didn´t know where to turn (Amos 8:11-12), and I assume many still don´t know yet and how to follow Christ and grow Closer to God. One boy, Joseph Smith, asked God with such sincereity, being spiritually prepared by God durring a diligent surch of Him, that God told him that he must restore the trueth in it´s intirety. God brought forth a Book, the Book of Mormon, that he had Joseph Smith translatem, threw the power of God, that was to testify with the Bible of Jesus Christ. This book was written so that we might understand and know it is true. If you simple read it, ponder on it´s teachings, and pray in the name of Jesus Christ to know if it is true, God will tell you if it is or not. I know these things are true. Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

McKay
God is a God of order, he doesn´t play with dice. Niether should we. More and more often things like debt and natural desaters catch us by suprise. So, that´s why we should be ready at all times with a little back up. It´s a good feeling to be independent, and whenever posible we should do what we can to be so. No debemos tampoco. Show more Show less

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

McKay
no. God loves all his children no matter where they are or what color they are. Right now I´m preaching his gospel in México and there are some very powerful Méxicano priesthood holders. Any worthy man may recieve the priesthood after the order that God has outlined for us. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

McKay
A branch, ward, and stake are units of members that can gather and be spiritually uplifted together, help eachother, and build lasting and uplifting relationships among themselves. These aren´t esclusive clubs, anyone can visit there meetings to learn more about us. These are more than anything a eutopia, without beeing selfish about it, because we live in the world just like everone else - we are all brothers and sisters - and we want everone to be able to enjoy the blessings of this cummunity. What is being a Mormon like?

McKay
It`s great, I love being Mormon. It can be hard standing for somthing you know is right when no one else cares, but God gives strength and comfort to those that follow him. He has given us so much in this earth, and no matter what we`ve been through, are going through, or will ever go through there will always be an end and good will win. As long as we let it win us first. The church gives me strength through the scriptures, or I love sining the hymns, and the way the everyone takes care of everyone. Being looked after is a wonderfull feeling, and that`s just what the church´s organization is for, gather the saints (those trying to follow Christ) and help them. Being Mormon is just like living life, but with a lot of extra help on how to be truely happy :) Excelente, Me encanta ser Mormón.

What is faith?

McKay
Life can be confusing, but faith is that thing that keeps us going, trying for what's good even when there isn't much of it. As Mormons, we like to compare faith to a seed, when really faith isn't the seed, but the word of God, or any truth. When we learn something new, not necessarily knowing, or understanding it, but putting it to the test. When you do that, you find out afterward the truth of it. We understand (or try to) that the trial (or proof) comes after the trial of your faith. I've seen this to be true in my life, if I ever want a sign, I know I'm being lazy. We did not come to this earth to see signs, there were surly more of those in heaven. We came here to try our faith, and prepare to meet God- but that's a whole other topic. If you knew that an army was going to come against you, what would you do to prepare? Moroni from the Book of Mormon knew his enemies were coming, so he did a lot of things in order to prepare. Building for fortresses, fortifying old cities, preparing his troops with armor and weapons. Because of that his people made it threw the on coming war. I think there is a lot to be learned from this example, there is always a war coming our way, but for us it's spiritual. Anyone will tell you to prepare for the apocalypse, but we need to prepare for any storm of life, and we do that by very much like Moroni did. We need to build up strong out spirits by reading scripture, praying, and keeping the commandments. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

McKay
To understand Jesus' sacrifice for us, remember why we are here. To me, I'm here to learn, grow, and I know that God wants me to be happy. Though not without experiencing pain of course, because if we didn't, we wouldn't grow. So how then can we return with God being "corrupted" or "scared" by the unavoidable things that we hear, do, and see? Well, all of that is paid for, have you heard that by grace we are saved? We are, under the conditions that Christ has set for us: to follow him. When we are in heaven getting ready to decide where to go, it wont be a surprise where we go, we decide. But imagine this, if you ARE heavenly, wont you go to heaven? if you ARE like Christ, wont you long to be with him? On the other hand, if in life all you wanted was what was bad for you and for everyone else, will you really want to be with God? I return to where I started, we are here to learn, grow, and be happy. In Brad Wilcox's "the Continuous Conversion" he says beautifully that "Heaven isn't earned, it is learned", and thus we "become [His] sons and daughters," (The Book of Mormon, Ether 3:14). I don't know everything, but God loves us, Jesus paid our sins, and if we follow him He will let us in those pearly gates. Remember that he loves you! Show more Show less
