Hi I'm Derek.

I've lived all over the country. I'm a rock and ice climber. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband and BYU graduate. I love to rock and ice climb, and I am the assistant manager at the local climbing gym. I like to mountain bike, play racquetball, and work out. I'm interested in computers and finances, but can only really handle my own. Maybe I'll delve into helping other people in the future.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I want to follow the Savior. He asks very little of us in return for the infinite atonement He gave us. I know that He lives and loves us. I know He is our advocate with the Father. I know He and our Heavenly Father want us to return to live with Them, so they made the sacrifices necessary for us to return. As we do our small part, the Savior will gladly vouch for us when the time comes for us to be judged. Am I perfect? No, but the Savior wants and loves me anyway, and He wants and loves you, too.

How I live my faith

As I mentioned, I am the assistant manager at the local climbing gym, so I am pretty involved with the climbing community. I participate in Church-sponsored blood drives as frequently as time and circumstances allow. Together with another man from my congregation, we visit two families at least once a month to share a brief spiritual message and serve them in any way needed. This is called home teaching. It is a small way of showing the Savior that we will feed His sheep as he asked Simon Peter to do on the shores at the sea of Tiberias (see John 21:15-17).
