Hi I'm Whitney

I'm a college student. I'm a big sister and friend. and I love being a Mormon.

About Me

i'm a friendly gal. never a dull moment. i strive for zeal, balance, and peace in life. i blog. i longboard, teach zumba, tap dance, am a fan of thrifting, experiment with food, play with my seven younger brothers and sisters, play tennis, do baptisms for the dead, sing in the shower, think sand volleyball is the bees knees, think star gazing is rad, am a an ultimate spoons champ, have an addiction to good music, and am obsessed with the gospel!!! i'm convinced that life as a Mormon is an adventure. i have been blessed to be born into a covenant family, meaning my parents were married in a temple and were sealed there to their future children. i have been taught the gospel my entire life. i strive to enjoy the simple things in life, even when life gets tough. i believe that every individual has been sent to earth to fulfill a certain mission and find their purpose. i am always striving to find the deeper meaning behind my purpose, by relying on God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost, and other people that come into my life. right now i am preparing for a mission as well as being anxiously engaged in finding my eternal companion, whom i will marry inside of the temple. i am getting my degree and want to become an occupational therapist.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had the Holy Ghost witness to me countless times that the gospel is true. My faith in Jesus Christ has brought about miracles in my life. Granted I have had my times of doubt, but I have asked God with real intent having faith in him if the the gospel was NOT true. Each time doing so, the Holy Ghost testified to every fiber of my being that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the most pure, most complete organization that has ever been brought upon the Earth. I genuinely testify that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and came to give peace and redeem everyone who has the desire to come unto him. I have a burning the testimony that God is our Eternal Father, and His love for each individual is unfathomable to the human mind. The infinite atonement has blessed my life and has brought me more joy and satisfaction than I ever thought possible. I know that the restoration of Jesus Christs' gospel has been brought back to the earth through the power of the Priesthood, which is God given authority given to man to act in God's name. I know that through prophet Joseph Smith the fullness of the gospel was restored to the earth. The reason I continue being a faithful, worthy, Latter Day Saint is because I know the truth of these things, and that everyone is given this time on earth to use their gift of agency and to make righteous choices that determine our eternal glory after we die.

How I live my faith

I am a committed member of an LDS Singles Ward. careful not to be confused with psych wards ;) LDS wards include people within a small geographical location, who meet together for church, striving to strengthen each others testimonies and be Christlike examples to each other. As a member of my ward, I have been called to be a visiting teacher. I have a visiting teaching companion, and together we visit three other women in our ward . We are privileged to be loyal trustworthy friends to them and provide emotional/spiritual support, helping them in times of need. Every woman member of the church has the opportunity to be a visiting teacher. I am also a part of the activities committee. I am in charge of helping put together and carry out fun, wholesome, recreational activities that unite members and non-members in our ward. As a member of the LDS Church I also have the privilege to share the gospel. One of my dear friends is getting baptized next week. I have been her support as we have met with the missionaries who have taught her more about the gospel. The missionaries have invited her to come unto Christ by helping her receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. I am a member missionary, and have been an added support to the missionaries who have been called to preach the gospel. i enjoy the simplicity of the gospel and the refinement it offers to our lives. Living the gospel makes me happy. Living worthy to obtain the blessings of the gospel makes me happiest. I would feel ungrateful and selfish if I didn't help share the glorious message of the divinity of Jesus Christs' life and the comfort and peace that the gospel brings into my life as I do my best each day to purify myself through our redeemer, Jesus Christ.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

The official church answer is: "Modesty, language and chastity are all connected in that our bodies are sacred creations made in the image of God. Therefore respecting this sacred gift means reserving physical intimacy for marriage between a man and woman, covering our bodies appropriately in dress and using language about the body that is always uplifting. Parents can teach their children that when they show respect for their bodies in this way, they can qualify to have the benefits of having the Holy Ghost with them." Being modest, using uplifting language, and being chaste are concepts to pray about and receive answers about. The "For the Strength of Youth Pamplet" gives a perfect standard to live by, exemplifying Jesus Christs' behavior. When a person is worthy of having the Holy Ghost with them, it is much easier to purify ourselves by being modest, using uplifting language, and being chaste. We can show God that we love him by respecting the bodies He gave us by being clean and pure, representing Jesus Christ. As we are striving to become more like the Savior Jesus Christ, we will become happier and have the strength and motivation to endure to the end. Show more Show less
