Hi I'm Sarah

I'm a student. I'm a musician. I'm a sister. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently an accounting student at Arizona State University. I love my major and the experiences I've had in college. Besides my studies, my main interest is music. I have had a great love for music ever since I was very little, listening to my dad play the piano for me. When I was five I started taking piano lessons from him, and I have played ever since. I have also enjoyed learning to sing and play the violin. For the past 5 years, I have taught piano lessons, and since then I have started teaching violin as well. I have enjoyed performing onstage many times in my life, especially in musicals. I love to swim, read, ballroom dance, and spend time with my brothers.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and have taught me to walk in the ways of the Lord. They encouraged me to pray and gain my own testimony of the Book of Mormon, the prophet Joseph Smith, and the Lord's modern prophets. Through searching the scriptures and praying daily, I have felt the truth of the gospel. I have come to know for myself that Jesus is the Christ, my Savior and Redeemer. I know that God hears and answers my prayers, and I have felt the truthfulness of Christ's restored gospel. Although I was baptized when I was 8 years old, my conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ has been a continual process. I know that as a Mormon, I am a part of His restored church in these latter days.

How I live my faith

The Book of Mormon tells us that, "men are that they might have joy." I know this is true because the gospel of Jesus Christ makes me so happy! Every day, I pray to my Heavenly Father and study from the scriptures. The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ and brings me closer to Him. I know that I have been guided in my life as I study the scriptures and pray for help in my struggles. I love to share my talents with others, especially my musical talents. Music is an excellent way to uplift people and bring them closer to Christ. I love my church and participate in various church programs. I currently (May 2016) serve in my Young Single Adult ward as the choir director and the Relief Society pianist. I attend church every week and attend Institute (religion classes offered by the LDS church at ASU). I have also volunteered my time in the temple, which brings me closer to God. I follow the commandments God has given because they help me to become more like Him. I know that He wants me to be happy! I feel so much joy from following Him.

What is faith?

Sarah
Faith is defined as things "hope[d] for... which are true". Faith can be small and it can grow as you exercise it. I have to have faith that my Heavenly Father loves me and listens when I pray. Then when I do pray, I can feel His Spirit and I know of God's existence and His love. My faith is strengthened and I pray more often. I had faith in God while I was young, and now I can truly say I know God lives because my faith has been strengthened. This process can apply to any church doctrine, and this is how I gain and strengthen my testimony. I have faith that priesthood blessings are inspired of God and that they work. I have seen many miracles happen because of preisthood blessings within my family and to myself. Without the priesthood, my family would not be the size it is, and my life would be so different. I now have a testimony of the priesthood because of faith. Show more Show less
