Hi I'm Catie

I'm an American missionary living in Russia, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy anything outdoors-y, reading books, watching Netflix, teaching swimming lessons.... basically just living life! I'm a sophomore at Brigham Young University studying Genetics and Biotechnology. I love science and politics, so I'm trying to figure out what to do after I get a bachelor's degree! Right now, I've put my life on hold for 18 months to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Yekaterinburg, Russia. I am having so much fun learning the Russian language and watching my own testimony grow as I help to grow the testimony of others. I come from a large family with 3 girls, 3 boys, and a mom and a dad. My dad went through a "mid-life crisis" of sorts and decided to become a doctor at the age of 40. I have loved growing up and watching my dad go to school everyday to get his dream job. It's been such an inspiration to me because I know the value of an education, and I now appreciate how much my dad loves his current job. I want to be as happy as he is one day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the truths this church teaches are true. It's hard living in a day and age when my peers question everything about everything and turn to the internet for answers. Sometimes the answers can't be found through Google but only through diligent study of the scriptures and turning to God in sincere prayer. Knowledge first stems from a desire for knowledge. As I've had the desire to know God and Christ more, I have come to know them more and more in my life.

How I live my faith

I try to be happy with God's plan for me-- and I definitely have faith that there's a plan for me. I enjoy studying my scriptures everyday and praying to God. Before my mission, when I was in college, I really enjoyed attending my singles' ward and getting to know the other people my age who were active in the church. Church is as fun as you make it, and I really love going to church and meeting new people.
