Hi I'm Desiree

I'm a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a student, and a soon to be missionary. I am a Mormon. I know it, I live it, and I love it!

About Me

I am the youngest of four kids and I love my family. For the past 3 years I have attended school at BYU-Idaho and I love it there. I have met so many wonderful people and I have loved my experiences there. I am majoring in Social Work because I love the idea of helping others and as a social worker that is what you do. In the future I think it would be nice to be a medical social worker and work in a hospital, nursing home, or with hospice. One summer I was a hospice volunteer which meant I had a patient I was blessed to visit weekly. This was so fun for me and I always looked forward to seeing her. Because of this experience my eyes were opened to being a medical social worker. But before that happens I get to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I have been called to serve in the Utah Ogden mission. I am beyond thrilled and can't wait to share with others the love of their Father in Heaven and Savior. I have been busy preparing for this mission by studying Preach my Gospel, The Book of Mormon, attending my mission prep class, and enjoying this last summer before my mission by rereading the entire Harry Potter series! I love all books but Harry Potter happens to be the best!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the happiness the gospel brings me. There is no greater joy than to feel the Spirit. I am a Mormon because it teaches me who Jesus Christ is. That He is our older brother and that He loves us. Because of His atonement He understands us. He knows everything we go through. He can help us through any trial as we come unto Him. I have learned that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we are given more than we think we will get and more than we sometimes deserve. His Atonement is very merciful and very loving. I am a Mormon because I know that in the spring of 1820 a young boy prayed to His Father in Heaven and asked which church he should join. In response to his prayer God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him and answered that he must join none of the churches for they were all wrong. This boy, named Joseph Smith, was then used as an instrument in Their hands to restore the true church of Jesus Christ upon the earth. I know this is true because when I read about the first vision I feel the spirit very strongly and I know that it is true. I am a Mormon because it teaches me about my Heavenly Father and Savior and how I can return to live with them some day. I am a Mormon because it teaches me the truth that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father who loves me and will always listen to me when I turn to Him in prayer. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church upon the earth. It has lead and guided me and has helped put perspective in my life. I know my Savior lives and I know He loves me. He wants you to know of His love for you and He wants you to take hold of His Atonement and have hope through Him.

How I live my faith

For the next 18 months I will be living my faith by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in the Ogden, Utah area. I hope to teach them that God is their loving Father in Heaven and that He loves them. I hope to teach them about prayer and that they can talk to their Father in prayer and that He wants them to talk to Him and that He will always listen. I also live my faith by studying The Book of Mormon each day. I love The Book of Mormon and I know that it was saved and preserved for our day and that it is the word of God. I know that it is another testament of Jesus Christ and it helps teach that through the Savior we aren't lost and through Him there is always hope. I know that through The Book of Mormon we can have answers to very personal questions in regards to our life and we can know what Heavenly Father would have us do. I live my faith by trying to follow the Savior and doing what's right. I live my faith by keeping a journal of the spiritual experiences I have had so that I may remember them in times of need for me but also so that I can share with others that Heavenly Father listens and answers our prayers and the Savior's Atonement is real.
