Hi I'm Shelby

Life has and never will be easy, but that doesn't mean it can't be great. I can do hard things and be optimistic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always loved to learn and figure out the smallest details. I am just finishing my AA. I want to disprove the idea of mean dentists and become the nicest one you've ever known. In my "spare" time I am a worry stressaholic. I love to read and write, dream big and sing my heart out. I enjoy crafty meticulous work especially things that involve sentiment to me such as pictures and scrap books, and my journals. I truly have a testimony of journals. If you can't see where you were, you won't know where you are going. My parents are divorced and remarried so I have 3 sisters, 2 step sisters and 1 step brother. I absolutely love ALL my family and that includes my 100 odd cousins and dozens of aunts and uncles, grandparents and my friends. Cracking jokes with my family is what it's all about! I'd be nothing without them. I have a nurturing and peaceful nature. I want to bring people to Christ through word and deed.

Why I am a Mormon

I used to care more about the things of the world and it was making me unhappy. Now I just love the simplicity of the gospel and how it keeps my life together. I grew up in the LDS church but that doesn't mean I was always converted, we all have our own agency. A thousand different events have built my testimoney and I had to earn it myself. In my youth I wasn't a good reader so the scriptures were always a hard thing for me to get in to but because this study is so vital to Christs plan for us I struggled off and on. After working on my young women's personal progress I felt good about myself and flew through the scriptures with speed and clarity I didn't believe possible. After several nights of this I was studying an LDS book my father suggested about Christ and heaven. I feel the spirit so strong every time remember the witness my heavenly father granted me of His love for me. His love is perfect and our faithfulness and diligence to the commandments of God will bring us happiness beyond our capacity. I feel the spirit every time I read the scriptures. I know I am not alone or unimportant to my Heavenly Father. I love Him and want to emulate my life after His only begotten son, my Savior Jesus Christ. The atonement is absolutely real and it can help you overcome all constraints, sorrows, and doubts. I am so much happier and I continue to add to my knowledge and faith every day. I felt unworthy to be a part of Christs church and that was holding me back from becoming the person Heavenly Father wants me to be. Every day I can try harder. I know the Lord loves me very much and teaches me patiently as I am ready to receive.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings every Sunday and trying every day to better align my heart with God's will. This is a long and painful process that I happily strive to complete every day. I witness to my Heavenly Father and renew my promises to Him to be worthy to be a part of His church by taking the sacrament and with my sacrifices. I try and do better and repent when I have messed up. The Lord has many blessings in store for me. That is why I am striving to keep and make sacred covenantsI. n my home and with my family I follow the teachings of the prophet with personal scripture study and prayer. On Monday nights I try to have special meetings with my family to learn, teach and share about the gospel. This break from worldly cares is very important to me. The spirit magnifies our efforts and blesses my life. I do my best to be a good friend and example to those I am in contact with. Joseph Smith's mother Lucy Mack Smith said, "We must cherish one another, watch over one another, comfort one another and gain instruction, that we may all sit down in heaven together." I know that if I remain worthy and keep my promises to God I can have my family together for all eternity. The temple is special place I visit often. I look forward to someday a time not so far off I can be worthy to be with my father in heaven and savior Jesus Christ who suffered for my sins.
