Hi I'm Benjamin

I study law. I love to country swing dance and to go off roading, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm in my third year of law school. For fun I go country swing dancing and off-roading. I crave adventure and have been sky diving and bungee jumping. I have a goal to make more time and more finances for traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a "Mormon" because I have chosen to follow my Savior, Jesus Christ, and His teachings. I was raised as a Mormon in a city where Mormons were a minority. Even though my parents were great examples and great teachers, I came to know for myself that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I have felt His love, and it is magnificent. I have also come to know from study, prayer, experience, and through the Holy Spirit that Christ restored His church to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith as "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." My beliefs have been strengthened as I have relied on Christ and I have had experiences throughout life that have reconfirmed these truths to me.

How I live my faith

Even though I strive to follow Christ, I am not perfect. I make mistakes and have many shortcomings. And that is why I need my Savior Jesus Christ. I know I can be cleansed from sin through Christ, and that I can become more like Him with His help. People often confuse being obedient to Christ's teachings with being boring, and being disobedient with being fun. I have so much fun while following Christ. I made up a saying, "If you are boring enough to strive to live by the 'For the Strength of Youth' pamphlet, but wild enough to jump out of an airplane, we'll get along." The pamphlet contains the Church standards for youth, but is applicable to adults. The introduction reads, "[Y]ou are at the beginning of your journey through this mortal life. Your Heavenly Father wants your life to be joyful and to lead you back into His presence. The decisions you make now will determine much of what will follow during your life and throughout eternity." Growing up not very many people lived the same lifestyle that I did. I was invited to do things that looked fun and popular, but were against the way I promised God that I would live my life. My faith became part of my identity and my friends knew what I stood for. I see how my decisions growing up have led me to where I am now, and how my current decisions will impact my future. My parents taught me to love others even if they don't have the same standards, but it is easy for someone to feel judged when you don't accept their actions. I want to be better at showing love to people who are different than me. I live my faith by striving to be trustworthy. I want people to know they can trust me, and I want God to trust me to do whatever He wants me to do. I currently teach Sunday School and I love it! I learn so much from preparing lessons, and it is teaching me more how to recognize the Holy Spirit. I also live my faith by sharing it with others, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask me.
