Hi I'm Ted

I grew up on a small farm in Arizona. I am married with seven children. I am a software developer, a manager and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a farm boy in a small town. I played football and baseball in High School and enjoyed playing the trombone in band and singing in the choir. I was the valedictorian in a graduating class of about 40 students. I am an Eagle Scout along with most of my high school friends. I attended Eastern Arizona college and again enjoyed playing in the band and singing in Choir. I was a member of the barbershop quartet both years of school there. I served a mission to Venezuela and love the people, culture and food of that country. I met my wife while at Eastern Arizona College and married her after I returned from my mission. I attended Arizona State University and got a degree in Business Computer Information Systems. I have worked in computer programming since 1989 in various roles including technical support, programming, managing support and development and also as a customer key account manager. My wife and I have seven children with ages spanning 15 years. I enjoy computers, reading and music. I also enjoy coaching my children in youth sports and have coached soccer, T-ball, baseball and softball. I am still actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America and current volunteer as a Varsity Assistant District Commissioner. My family enjoys camping every year and spending time playing games with each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. I read the scriptures, went to church and participated in Seminary. After I graduated from High School and moved away from home, it became entirely my choice on whether or not I continued to attend church and be an active participating member. I decided that I would continue to attend because at that point I felt that I was doing the right thing. In that year away from home, I prepared myself to be a missionary. It was then that I questioned how true everything was. I read more, prayed more and finally received an assurance from God that what I was doing was the correct thing to do. I have not doubted since and can remember clearly those feelings of assurance, now more than 20 years later.

How I live my faith

As I work to live my religion, I strive hard to serve others as demonstrated by Christ and his early disciples. I have served doing various things with the youth, including teaching Sunday gospel lessons, working with the teenage young men in scouting as a leader and mentor. I have also assisted local Bishops leading their congregations serving as a counselor to those Bishops off and on for the past 15 years. In addition I have worked with the Cub Scouts, Scouts, Varsity and Venture groups as part of the Boy Scouts of America. I have worked at the troop, unit and district level in various capacities. I also try to be involved with the community volunteering as a little league coach. I have also volunteered as a coach and referee with AYSO soccer leagues.
