Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a wife and mother of 5. I have a new found enjoyment of kick boxing and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi my name is Melanie. I am a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am a second generation member, my parents were converts to the church. Although I was born in Fargo, ND my family moved to Utah when I was young so I spent my growing up years in Salt Lake City. I lived a pretty average life for a Mormon girl growing up in Utah until I was 17 years old. My mother died about a month before my senior year of High School. It was a devastating challenge but my previous years of building a testimony of Jesus Christ and my faith in Him helped me cope and actually grow stronger as an individual. My trust and faith in Him grew also. My life continued in a pretty average fashion until I met the love of my life. I met a wonderful guy from England who's heritage is from Ghana, West Africa. The prospect of marrying a black man was interesting to say the least. This was another faith building time for me in my life. We have been married nearly 22 years and have 5 beautiful children. I have been privileged to stay home and raise our children. I enjoy reading, teaching our adult religion class, kick boxing, volunteering in the community, and being a wife and mother.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a life long member of the church but everyone must be converted to the church at some point in their membership. Everyone must have a testimony of their own whether you are born into the church or whether you join at a later point in your life. This process started for me at a young age and grew slowly day by day over my life time. I can think of a handful of experiences that were very profound and helped solidify that growing testimony. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Being a "Mormon" is who I am. I try to incorporate the teachings of Jesus Christ in everything that I do. I am far from perfect but I try in the small every day situations of my life to do as He did. I enjoy teaching the young children on Sunday and I enjoy teaching the adults during the week. My calling in life is that of a wife and mother. I do my best to be an example of Jesus Christ to my children. I think it is important to start within your own home to be Christlike. I try to be happy, uplifting and kind every where I go. I am a witness of the reality and divinity of Jesus Christ. I have personally tasted of the healing power of His atonement. It has changed my very nature. I am so grateful for His tender mercies and His love.
