Hi I'm Matthew

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married for 18 years and have 2 daughters and 3 sons, ranging in ages from 5 to 15. I'm a certified public accountant (CPA) and am a partner in a small accounting firm in Boise. I enjoy running and spending time in the mountains. I have an interest in growing native conifers from Idaho, as well as other conifers and I love to get outside and go for a relaxing walk with my wife at the end of a busy, stressful day. I also value spending time with my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in Jesus Christ and know he is the Son of God who has made possible the salvation of all people. I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's true church on earth, and that Christ leads His church through prophets and apostles, just as he did anciently. I have asked God in prayer if this church is the true church on earth, and I experienced a witness through the Holy Ghost that it is true. This witness came in the form of the greatest joy and happiness I have ever felt as I listened to someone sharing their testimony of the Book of Mormon. I receive strength and guidance, peace and happiness through the Holy Ghost nearly every day as I prayer and read the scriptures. I am given help to be a better dad and husband, and to be able to succeed in my profession. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God, just as the Bible is. The spirit I feel as I study the Bible is the same spirit I feel when I study the Book of Mormon. Both scriptures show me the way to Christ and salvation. I am very grateful for the light in my life that comes from God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best husband and father I can. With 5 busy children, I get a lot of practice with patience and time management. I pray in the morning and at night with my family. We read scriptures as a family. I also spend time studying and praying on my own. I try to obey God's commandments to love Him and to love my neighbor as myself. I serve in my church as a counselor to a bishop, which includes working with the 75 youth we have at our church and with the 100 young children that attend church. I also have responsibilities to teach the adults and to visit certain families each month to be a support and friend to them. I love to worship in the temple, where I particularly feel close to God's influence. In short, I try to live each day as guided by the Holy Spirit to help me to choose the right and to help others. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ.
