Hi I'm Jean

I'm from the Pacific Northwest where it's wet and wonderful. I love sailing, quilting and singing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy the outdoors. I love to hike in the woods, and love to go sailing. My father owns a twelve foot wooden sailboat and I love being out on the water with the wind in my face, the blue sky above and the ocean reflecting it back. I love music. I play the piano, tin whistle, and the oboe and I'm learning to play the guitar. I sing alto in my church choir. I also love to dance. While I was in college I took social dance classes where I learned swing, salsa, cha-cha, and nightclub two-step. But I also love to get out on the dance floor and just move to the beat of the music. I have graduated college with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, which basically means I couldn't make up my mind what I really wanted to major in. At the moment I work in a call center, performing customer service. But I love working with children and look forward to raising my own someday.

Why I am a Mormon

I consider myself very blessed to have been born and raised in the church. One of my favorite quotes is from C.S. Lewis and it reads, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." That is how I feel about this gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ. As I study the scriptures and apply them to myself, I am able to find meaning in my life. When I follow the commandments we have been given, I feel light and knowledge filling my mind and love filling my heart. The gospel teaches that families can be together forever. This brings incredible joy to me. I love all of my family dearly, and the knowledge that we will still be family and that we can be together even after death is wonderful and amazing. I know that Jesus Christ came to earth to provide a way for all of us to repent. He paid the price for our sins so that someday we can live with God again. It isn't always easy; we all struggle in this life, but I find that when I'm going through difficult times I can turn to the Lord and He will strengthen me. In this world that sometimes seems so filled with conflict and uncertainty, through the gospel I find comfort, hope and peace.

How I live my faith

I attend a young single adult congregation every Sunday. It is wonderful to be able to associate with people who are my age and who are experiencing some of the same things in life. Throughout the week we get together to play games, learn more about the gospel, and perform service.
