Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a Wife, Mother, and a Teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife, mom, and teacher. And so much more. I love to hike with my husband. I sew, crochet, and love anything crafty. I enjoy singing and playing the piano. I am an avid book reader. I've hiked the Grand Canyon. I've lived in 4 different states. I have a college degree. I'm passionate about the things that are dear to my heart.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I developed a love for the gospel and the teachings of Jesus Christ. As a young teenager I realized the depth of my testimony when my older brother was killed in an accident. As I searched the New Testament scriptures to find solace in that trying and sorrowful time, I felt a deep assurance in my heart that I was loved. I knew that my Heavenly Father was aware of my sorrow. That He cared for me and would help me thru this time. I knew that Jesus Christ died for me that I could live again. And I knew that His gospel had been restored thru a prophet, Joseph Smith. That the priesthood was once again on the earth. That families thru this power could be together forever, by living the principles of the gospel. My faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ doesn't end there. As a wife and mother and daughter of God, I am daily reminded of His hand in all things. As I read the scriptures and pray and follow the teachings of His Latter Day Prophets, I feel peace. I know who I am. Why I am here. And where I am going. I know the Gospel is True. That Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. That God has a plan for us. That He speaks to us thru his Living Prophets here on the earth today. I know the Book of Mormon is true. And that by living the gospel I can return to live with my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I work with the Children in our Church. It is something I really enjoy. Their faith and their knowledge of the gospel inspires me to be a better person. I also work with the Youth. At a time when many of today's teenagers are making difficult decisions, it is wonderful to be involved with youth who are living by a higher standard, who are choosing to do what is right instead of what is popular. I am involved with parents and teachers in our community to help better our schools. I participate in groups aimed at increasing opportunities for children from 0 to 5. I strive to live what I believe, to be kind to others, and to live as an example of Christ.
