Hi I'm Charlene

I grew up in a small town in the state of Washington. I am now studying Spanish Education in college, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Charlene, and I am 19 years old. I was recently married in the temple for time and all eternity and remain happily married as I attend school at a university. I love the outdoors, running, and playing softball. I come from a large family that I love and appreciate more than they know, and I look forward to having my own children some day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to loving parents who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and as this might have been the beginning of my life as a Mormon, it is certainly not my only reason. It is very true, that as a young child and during part of my youth, I leaned on the testimony of my parents. However, there was a point in my life when I began to question my beliefs, and I had to know for myself whether or not this was what I wanted for my life. Through diligent scripture study and sincere prayer I made known my desire to have a sure testimony of the gospel to my Father in Heaven. As I set aside time each day for my Heavenly Father, my desire to follow his commandments increased and my life began to be filled with a peace that I had never experienced before. I knew for a surety that this new peace that I had discovered, and my increased love of God was my Heavenly Fathers way of confirming what I had been taught my whole life. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is his church, and is the only church on earth that contains the fullness of the Gospel. Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God and the Book of Mormon is in fact another testament of Jesus Christ. I know of a surety that the Book of Mormon, if studied often will be the source of an increased desire to follow the commandments of God. I also know that President Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet of God called specifically for our day to lead and guide us through all that we face, and that if we make a special effort to follow his teachings we will find peace and joy in our lives.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I have been blessed with many opportunities to give service both in the church, and in my community. As a part of the Women's organization in the church we are each assigned fellow women members whom we visit monthly to share a message of the gospel, and to also be an extra source of help in times of need. It has been my privilege to be a part of this organization, and it is one of the many ways that I live my faith. Living my faith is not only limited to large acts of service, but I find that a lot of it has to do with the small things. I read my scriptures and pray daily both by myself and also with my husband. I live my faith by doing my best to follow the commandments of God and by attending all of my church meetings. Since I am young, I feel as though I have not contributed as much to God's work as those who have gone before me, but I know that as long as I live my life with a willingness to serve him I will be blessed with many opportunities in the future.
