Hi I'm Claire Baker

I'm a wife, mother of 5 and a grandmother of 5. I'm a quilter. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a stay at home mom all my married life. I have 5 children, all have flown the nest. I have 5 grandchildren. I'm a quilter, piano and organ player. I love to travel with my husband. I love being with my children and their children. I love living in Indiana as it's a beautiful state. I belong to a quilt guild.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS Church, through my father who was a member. My mother never joined the Church. I went to Primary as a little girl and then Mutual as a teenager. My father stopped attending when I was in 5th grade but I still continued to be active in the Church. I attended Early Morning Seminary and was active in all things. I was always taught that the Church was the Lord's church but I really didn't receive a strong testimony of the truth until I was a teenager. And my testimony has just gotten stronger as I've gotten older. In the past 10 years, I taught Seminary and my testimony really blossomed as I taught the Gospel to high schoolers. I've learned to love the scriptures more than I ever did before. I love being a Mormon, I love the Church and all it's teachings. I'm honored to be a part of such a great thing. I'm a Mormon because I believe the Church is true. I'm a Mormon because I know Jesus lives and loves me. I'm a Mormon because I know I'm Heavenly Father's daughter and he loves me too and wants me to come back to him so I know I need to follow his teachings the best I can. I love being a Mormon because of all the good deeds we do to help others. We are not a flashy church, but we do alot to help others. I'm a Mormon because I see how important families are to Heavenly Father and I use his commandments and teachings to raise my children and they are using the same teachings for their own families. All 5 of my children have gone on missions for the Church to teach the gospel to those that are searching for something good. I'm a Mormon because I want to be with my husband and family eternally. I'm a Mormon because when I read the scriptures, the Bible or the Book of Mormon my soul is touched and strengthened and fills my spirit. I'm a Mormon, most importantly, because I've received a witness and testimony that this is God's Church. I know it's true. It drives me to all I do. I love sharing my testmony with others. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I'm active in all things in the Church. I attend my Sunday meetings every week. I attend Mutual (Youth group) on Wednesday nights to work with the Young Women in our church. I've held many callings in the Church, from working with little children to older women and everything in between. I'm very involved with a local quilt guild that has many women of Christian faiths. It's wonderful to associate with others that believe about Christ like I do. Our guild does many things for our community by making quilts for police and/or fireman, hospitals, nursing homes, etc. One of my favorite callings in the Church was to teach Seminary in the morning to high schoolers. I taught 5 years. That's where I really learned to love the scriptures. I loved testifying to my students of the love that Heavenly Father has for them. It was a great experience. I really love working with teenagers. I did Cub Scouts for 3 years too and that was a blast. I've played the organ in just about every ward I've ever lived in. (we've moved alot!) I served as Relief Society President (adult women's program) for awhile. Our motto is "Charity Never Faileth" and that's the truth. We were always doing things to help others, especially those that were struggling financially with employment difficulties or needs for food or clothing. I'm a Visiting Teacher, which is someone who is assigned several women in our ward to visit every month to see how they're doing, if they had any needs I could help them with and to give them a gospel message. It's a great way to help Christ look out for his sheep that may be lost. Along with my husband, we taught our children the gospel in our home, living it by example and made sure our children came with us to all our meetings. They have remained faithful and committed because they received their own testimonies. We are an eternal family, having been sealed in one of our temples. My faith is everything to me and I live it 24/7.
