Hi I'm Susan

I grew up in NewYork and joined the church at 18yrs old in California. I 'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I just recently moved from Austin Texas where we raised our four children. We now live/retired in Saratoga Springs, Utah. I am a grandparent now and love the role I get to play. My husband is the center of my Universe. I like to crochet, sew and I like to read when I have time. I have four wonderful grandchildren whom I adore with one more on the way. My three girls fill my heart with more love than I can explain and my son, who is my youngest makes me proud to be a mother. He served his mission in Pocatello Idaho and shortly after married his sweetheart in the Mesa Temple. Our family is close even tho we all live in different states! I am constantly looking for short cuts to loose the extra 25 lbs I carry around but I just enjoy sweets too much! I have had some challenges in my life and can look back at those challenges now and see what I've learned from them and how they have strengthened me in my life. Nothing is too hard to handle when you have a belief, faith and trust in a Higher being who loves you. Challenges often come when we least expect them. My husband and I are about to embark on a new adventure in our lives, we have been called to serve in the Frankfurt Germany mission (for the OGC-office of general counsel). We will leave in July 2017 and serve 18 months. We feel strongly that this call has come at the perfect time in our lives and look forward to serving.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young girl, I always spoke with God. I was raised in a Catholic family. We have a great family and went to Mass every Sunday. As I became a teenager, my family moved to California from New York. After our move, I shortly became acquainted with a young 16 year old boy down the street who promptly told me he was a "Mormon". I didn't know what that was....As he taught me about his beliefs, it all rang true to me and shortly thereafter I was being taught by the missionaries. I read the pamphlets they gave me about a young boy who didn't know which church to join...the story was fascinating to me and as I read more and studied more about the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I felt a feeling in my heart that it was true. I joined the Mormon church when I was 18 years old and have loved my association with the members and my ability to serve in the capacities that I have been asked to serve from time to time. It fills my life with joy and comfort and direction and has answered many questions about this earthly life and my purpose in it. I am grateful that I have found the church and am able to practice my faith daily. My greatest desire and belief is that we live past this earthly life because of Jesus Christ our Savior who died for us. And that we can one day live with Him as families, to grow and become more like Him and enjoy eternal joy. I truly believe this is our purpose, to come to this earth life and prove ourselves to be worthy to live with the Savior one day. This is my purpose in this life and I strive daily to live worthy of that great blessing.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the church. I have had many different assignments in the church including serving our youth (teenagers) and also our little children(Primary). I love teaching them and hearing about their challenges and dreams. I have also served as an early morning religion teacher, we call it Seminary. That was more challenging because I am not an early morning person but for the time I served I felt strengthened and able to carry out my calling. I love the youth of the church! I am currently serving in the woman's organization called the Relief Society as an event planner with a few other woman. We have a great time doing service events and dinners and learning about each other and the gospel. Each month I visit two to three other woman in the church and make sure they are healthy and happy and see if there is anything I can do to help them. This is an assignment we are given thru the woman's organization (Relief Society) but most of the time these ladies become our best friends as we get to know each other and serve each other. I love living my faith and feel that by doing so I am able to feel the Holy Ghost in my daily life as a companion. I find that thru living my faith, I am protected from harmful choices that would guide me down a different path than I want to be on in my life. The guidance that my faith gives me on a daily basis as I live the commandments and do good to others fills my life with joy. My faith has helped me be a better wife and mother and grandmother as I live my daily life and follow the promptings I feel from time to time.
